    In the Summer of 2023 I approached the Executive Director of HBCSTL to partner for a community ***** to deliver a summer program to the youth. This ***** was being offered by the Missouri Afterschool Network (MASN) in the amount of $4k. The conditions were to deliver a summer program and a local Chamber needed to be the fiscal sponsor and community partner. We were extremely excited when HBCSTL agreed to partner in this space and to transfer the funds of $4k to The WAY Center after successful delivery of the summer program. We delivered an amazing summer pilot to the community. The impact was amazing. We provided MASN with the promised impact report, as required. The Chamber received the funds in October 2023 and they were exhausted before transferring to The **********. The Director we originally worked with is no longer with the Chamber, and she made sure to share during her exit that the check would be arriving and needed to be transferred to our organization. Several phone calls, texts, emails and a full payment has not been received. Current date, The WAY Center received a $1k payment in March, after several persistent calls. We were promised another $1k payment and we have not received a payment currently, April 2024. I have reached out to the President and team for my $3k and no action. I feel sad and disappointed as I type this complaint. I am a black woman entrepreneur and trying to make my footprint in the afterschool space with a non-profit. I was excited to partner with a Chamber whose focus is on black businesses. These funds not being paid has put us in a tight position and exhausted our raised cushion funding. I would hate for other small businesses or startups to be put in this position. Thank you for allowing me to share my unpleasant experience, we do hope for a healthy resolve.
