Transaction 7-19-23 I was surprised to learn that I wasn't getting a free estimate when **** arrived at my place. I was also surprised to learn that they do not repair drains as I told them I need done. They only do camera work and clean roots out. That was not what I need and I told them that. He charged me $170 for walking around my place for about 30 minutes and telling me he would call a plumber about my problems. I could do that myself. I wrote a paper check for that amount. I am 67 years old and female so I have problems with men demanding payment. I was confused about if I had been helped so I called my bank after he left. The bank thought I had been taken advantage of and stopped the payment. My concern now is if they demand payment and threaten my credit rating. I would like them to leave me alone and not demand payment.

    Business Response

I personally took the call from this customer when she called our company.  She told me that she wanted to know where her drain lines were all running and if there were any problems with them.  She thought that one had been disconnected or damaged. Our company cleans, televises and electronically locates drains and that's what we discussed doing. I explained the cost for one hour of service for a technician to come out and that other charges may incur once her and the technician went over what he thought needed to be done.  She proceeded to schedule an appointment.  Upon arrival she asked the technician if the estimate was free.  He relayed to her that we do not give free estimates and that there was a one hour minimum charge to proceed. She proceeded to let the technician explore her exterior property and then he went over everything with her on what had to be done to fix the problem.  He then referred her to a contractor that would actually do the repairs. No cleaning, televising or electronic location work needed to be done and the customer was not charged those fees.  She was charged for a one hour service call which was explained to her she would be charged.  The customer paid the bill at time of service with no other complaints.  No calls were made to the office regarding any complaint she had.  We had no idea she was unhappy until we received a notice from our bank that she had stopped payment on her check.  After discussing with the technician we decided just to void her bill and consider the matter closed.
