    We are established clients with Mid Ozark Animal Hospital in *****, **. We have brought several animals in with emergencies and paid hundreds of dollars to get them back up to par. Yesterday, 11/6, we lost our senior rescue lab, Duke. We came home around 4 and found him standing, with his back hunched and a hard and swollen tummy, in the yard with white foam on the ground around him. I immediately called Mid-Ozark and explained the symptoms and asked them if they would take him under an emergency basis since it was so late in the day. I was told they werent an emergency vet and to call another vet. I asked her when they stopped being an emergency vet? They put me on hold and came back and told me Dr ****** said to pull his food and water and let him rest his tummy and call back in the morning to get him seen. I expressed my concern that I didnt think he would make it through the night. She didnt seem to care and 4 hours later my dog was dead.

    Hello,

    This complaint is not about our business. They reference Mid Ozark Animal Hospital in *****, **. That is not our business and there is no other reference to them ever coming to our business or having a complaint about Veterinary Specialty Services.

    This appears to be an error if you can please rectify this.

    Thank you,

    Business Response

    Mid Ozark Animal Health Center, *** is a general practice veterinary clinic.  We offer basic emergency services for established clients and pets that have been seen in the office for routine services within the last 2 years.  The clinic went from employing 3 full time veterinarians to 1 full time veterinarian in May of 2023.  At that time the conditions of providing emergency services changed.  On the day in question when Ms. ******* contacted our office, Dr. ********** was sick and had gone home early from work.  It was advised to Ms. ******* that with the symptoms she had given that she needed to seek emergency care at a 24 hour emergency service for her dog.  If she chose not to seek those services then she was advised to take away food and water overnight to rest the belly and come in the next morning.  The dog in question had never been seen at our clinic, therefore it was unknown to the staff what the dog's normal behavior was.  Had the staff or Dr. ********** known the dog would die 4 hours later then we would have been more encouraging of seeking a 24 hour emergency clinic's services.  With one veterinarian on staff and few employees, after hour services we offer are very limited.

    I have reviewed the business' response and am rejecting it because:

    Never was I told that;

    1. Dr ********** was out sick. I was put on hold and when the woman who put me on hold came back she told me that ********************** first name) said to put up food and water and call back in the morning. If she was out sick how could she have provided that information in such a short time frame?

    2. To seek out an emergency veterinary clinic. They did not offer alternative clinics and instead told me they were a non emergency vet even after weve spent hundreds of dollars there as established clients. Its ok to spend hundreds of dollars at this vet office to not be considered as established?

    3. They never asked what dog I was calling about so how do they know they had never seen him?

    I certainly hope another pet doesnt have to die due to the negligence on their part.

    Sincerely,

    ****** *******
