    Do not rent with Haselhorst Properties. The buildings are not safe or well-maintained. Management knowingly allowed me to move into a unit filled with mold and mildew that was literally rotting around ***** a result, I developed severe respiratory issues and was granted a medical exemption from my lease. However, management was difficult to deal with and largely ignored my complaints until that point.I contacted ***********-****** County Code Enforcement to inspect the unit. They deemed it "uninhabitable" due to several issues: the floor was sinking, the windows were nearly impossible to open (the frames were rotten), the smoke alarms were outdated, and the gas stove lacked both a vent hood or a CO2 alarm.Additionally, there is a significant rodent problem, including squirrels and other pests in the walls, as well as bed bugs and roaches in the carpets. Fortunately, I only had to deal with the squirrels. After I requested a fix, the squirrel issue was supposedly "resolved," but the job was poorly done, and the pests returned to my walls within a week.I also want to point out that the **** included in utilities is a single window unit filled with black mold that has not been updated in over a decade. It barely cools the unit during the summer. I moved out before winter, so I cant comment on the heating (though I imagine it isnt great).Lastly, the management is unethical. They disregard tenants' legal rights and will do anything to take advantage of you. They even intentionally mislead tenants about legal matters. Any "upgrade" or "fix" they make is a temporary, shoddy solution that wont last.Please, save yourself the headache and spend the extra money to live somewhere nicer. It is not worth it to live here.

    Given the concerns ***** had, she sent the management office a letter on October ******* we explained the next day, October 15,2024  that the best way we could accommodate her medical needs would be to transfer her to another property.  Currently we did not have any other one bedroom utility paid apartments available.   The closest thing we currently had would be a two bedroom apartment for $830.00 a month (not including utilities).  We told her she was welcome to monitor our web site at ******************* for our latest availability and let us know what she wanted to do.  

    Since we currently did not have any other one bedroom apartments, We also offered her a medical release to allow her to vacate the structure prior to the end of your lease at her convenience with no penalties.  This would allow her to find a place that better fits her current needs.  On October ******* She notified us that that she would be leaving.  On November 8, 2024 She vacated the unit.  On November 11, 2024 We refunded her the balance of her unused November rent as well as the balance of her security deposit in the amount of $890.64  City officials were out to the property, they did not deem the property "uninhabitable" and in fact after careful consideration they did not site the property for any written violations.  We are sorry that ***** was unhappy in her apartment and we hope that she was able to find a more suitable living condition for her needs.

    Since ***** is no longer a resident and we have refunded her the security deposit we will consider this case closed.
