On September 7 2021 I went to Bridges Upholstery to have 3 Wing chairs one Ladder Back chair seat and one couch upholstered. I was given a price of $6,646.00 which included a pickup and delivery fee of $125.00 and with the understanding of additional freight charges and possible removal of seat of Ladder Back chair. With pickup scheduled in March of 2022. In January of 2022 pressure was put to allow them to pick up chairs in a temp of 4 deg F with my door being wide open for 20 to 30 minutes I said no it was too cold and I had a sick cat. In March she said they would pickup chairs and when they were delivered the couch would be picked up as they had limited space at their facility something that had never been mentioned nothing was said about an additional pickup and delivery charge. On 9 7 2021 I paid $3,323.00 on 7 13 2022 I paid $2,183.53 on 8 7 2022 the couch was delivered. I received a e-mail of $1,375.00 which included an additional pickup charge of $125.00 this had never been mentioned nor had I ever agreed to this. It was Manda's decision to make two pickups not mine. This was very unfair and I do not feel I owe the 2nd pickup charge

    Business Response

This is a simple misunderstanding.  The original estimate included two times $125 for pickup and delivery. We contacted her in January because we were trying to get her work done quickly and efficiently.  We had a difficult time scheduling the furniture pick up.  At one time, we had reserved a truck to get the furniture and she cancelled.  The gentleman that helps us with moving is retired and does not own a moving truck.  So a last minute cancellation of a truck rental would cost him money.  So after she cancelled our pick up, the mover and I decided that he would just make many trips in his pick up truck so that he wouldn't risk losing money for a last minute moving truck rental cancellation.  So, he picked up the chairs and took them back and we invoiced her for the chairs and I charged her $125 for both of those trips.  He picked up her sofa when he dropped off the chairs and then he returned her sofa to her.  I put $125 on the sofa invoice.  So now we've made 3 trips (not including the attempted chair delivery and sofa pick up where she refused to accept the chairs due to being at the end of the time window that she allowed for delivery, for which I did not charge her).  When she paid our last invoice by check, she did not pay the 2nd $125 delivery fee.  I removed it from our invoice and did not contact her about it.  I assumed the matter would be closed but now I learn that she has filed a complaint asking to not pay the $125.  Her wish has already been granted.  She didn't pay.  One other detail that she also noted is that we agreed if the ladder back seat was not removable, it would be an increased charge.  This increase as well as the fabric freight charge increase may be part of why she believes she was overcharged for pick up and delivery.  But I assure you that we did everything within our power to be kind and fair to this client.  We are sorry that she has filed a complaint against us, we believe it is very unjustified.
