Our customer brought in his 42 year old bike which he recently bought as a "good deal" that was not running. He was concerned that it might have some issues, but we told him that first we had to get the bike running. We rebuilt 4 carbs and synced them, replaced fuel hoses, installed fuel filter, installed new battery, replaced carb boots and intake boots, replaced petcock, replaced spark plugs and air filters. We were able to get the bike running. After the customer picked up his bike, it eventually stopped running. He was fully aware that after we get the bike running, it may have additional issues. These conversations were recorded over the phone. He is now unhappy that his bike is no longer running. Unfortunately, the only way to move forward is a very expensive trial and error process, one that includes a 42 year old bike with fragile original parts and no way to purchase replacements other then rebuild yourself or take off another used bike. Realistically, the cost of these repairs would very quickly eclipse the value of the bike.

This type of repair is most normally done at home by someone who is very mechanically inclined. Customers don't want to be charged for trial and error, rebuilding and building, just to potentially not even figure out the issue. We told him that we would look more into his bike this winter when we had the man power. We preformed the initial repair just as we described over the phone. We were able to get his bike running. He was informed that this was necessary and that more issues may arise after that.

We completely understand why the customer is unhappy but we feel this should be directed at whoever he purchased this bike from. We did agree to retroactively give the customer a 15% discount on the entire invoice as a gesture of good will.

PS : A few days later on the garage floor I found an oil leak , It was dripping oil from the bottom of my bike .

I would like to add the following information. Dropped off my bike to the dealership and enter into a differ contract. Two days after delivery of the bike. The motorcycle shows the problem. I called the dealer the complaint about this problem and found out that the dealership didn't work on his motorcycle. Because it was too old and they don't have skill workers to work on this type bike. The dealership didn't communicate with me and first therefore I have the options to look for another company to work on my bike. I feel the company wasn't telling the true.
