I hired B & G Window to replaced 4 broken pieces of glass on windows. They sent me an estimate for the glass and hourly repair, suggesting it would take 8 hours for them to replace the glass. The estimate was $60 per hour for 8 hours totaling $993.48. He came and repaired the window in a little less than 4 hours. I told him that the estimate was wrong since he only worked for less than 4 hours. He said it was supposed to be worded differently but it wasn't, it said $60 per hour for 8 hours. I agreed to pay the $993.48 and told him I would be in small claims court. He then gave me $180 back and marked on my invoice paid. Then I later received invoices that requested I pay the $180 and $38.40 interest or a lien would be put on my house.

I went out and measured the windows for Ms. ****** and emailed her a price.  She agreed on the price and we placed an order for the glass. When I was at her house she told me how she was filing complaints against multiple other complany's as they had done her wrong. She also emailed me a follow up email telling me how other company's did her wrong and she was filing with the BBB against them as well. There is nothing on my invoice that says how many hours I will be on the property.  There is a lot more work involved in window repair other than what is done onsite. We spend at least an hour measuring, we have to order, unload trucks, clean glass 3 times on each side per piece, sand off sharp edges, load the truck, drive to the job, install, and drive back. After the work was completed Mrs. ****** threatened my employees with small claims court and backed them out of her house.  She followed them into the yard yelling and they felt uncomfortable with the situation, took the offered amount of money, and left. I contacted her about the rest of the money and she said she would take me to court. I am filing a mechanic's lien on her house. She has over 100 other claims on casenet. There has been no further communication since the attached emails so I don't know where she came up with the interest amount. I always stand behind my estimates even if it takes twice as long as I originally estimated. I attached all of our conversations.

    Customer Answer

I told him that he had been here less than 4 hours and the estimate was for $60 an hour for 8 hours. I told him this was an estimate not an invoice, and he hadn't even given me an invoice. He said it was the same thing. They say I owe $180 but I laid $993.48 on my dining room table when he was finished and I said "Here is all of your money but I will be in small claims court tomorrow." He took the money and left without giving me a receipt, and went out the door. He came back a couple of minutes later and said "What about this?" and laid $180 on my dining room table. I looked at it and thought it was for 4 hours and I told him I would accept it but needed him to write paid on the estimate. He wrote paid and then he left. His wife says I chased him out the door but I did not. I heard nothing until about 36 hours later when I received an email saying I owed them $180. In the answer they also say they've checked on Case Net and I have over 100 cases. That is true because I've been an landlord for 37 years. I've also won most of the cases. She also states she intends to file a mechanics lien against my home. If she would drop her threat of the mechanic's lien I'm willing to let this go. If she won't, I'm going to small claims court for $60.
