      Furniture Medic was retained n April 2nd, 2024 by my insurance company, ****, to repair and repaint kitchen cabinets that were damaged by a previous contractor. I subsequently engaged Furniture Medic to repaint and repair two bathroom vanities.

      The total estimate for these repairs came to $12,688. I have paid Furniture Medic a total of $9,319.50, the remainder due upon completion.

      The owner, ******* *****, did a walkthrough with my wife and me on Wednesday, 4 September 2024, during which we identified paint and repair issues that had to be fixed, as well as damage caused when a paint line exploded in our home. *** ***** agreed to all of the issues we identified, and stated his team would sand and prep on Wednesday and Thursday (4-5 Sep) and complete final spraying on Friday (6 Sep).

      The paint crew did not return after Wednesday, 4 Sep. At 5:54pm Thursday, 5 Sep, I received an email from *** ***** stating "I have closed down my business and laid off all my workers. I can no longer take in work or complete the work I currently have in my shop."

      I had to drive to *** ******* shop, 45 minutes from my home, twice to retrieve my cabinet doors and shelves, hardware, and vanity drawers.

      *** ***** and Furniture Medic failed to complete the work at all, and I now have to hire a new painter to redo all the work - no painters will take responsibility for the work Furniture Medic did or did not do, and are requiring a full start-to-finish contract.
