He sold me a used engine. I paid $2500. He told me he purchased it from County Line. The engine was defective. It hasn't been 90 days since I had the engine and it didn't come with a warranty. I contacted County Line and they said he didn't purchase it from them. Then he told me he purchased it from Midway. Fast Eddie's didn't a warranty on the engine. He's not willing to replace the engine or fix it.

    TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

THIS IS A RESPONSE TO COMPLAINT #18451360. THE CUSTOMERS VEHICLE WAS AT FAST EDDIES GARAGE LLC FOR AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT, THE ENGINE AND LABOR IS BACKED BY A NINETY DAY WARRANTY AGAINST DEFECTS SUCH AS ROD BEARING FAILURE, TIMING CHAIN FAILURE, ECT. HOWEVER, THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER ENGINE DAMAGE DUE TO LACK OF NORMAL MAINTENANCE, LACK OF LUBRICATION (OIL LEVEL), OR IN THIS CASE, DAMAGE CAUSED BY OVERHEATING. THE CUSTOMER WAS MADE AWARE OF THIS DURING VEHICLE PICK UP AND SIGNED HIS INVOICE WHICH CLEARLY STATES THIS. THE ENGINE WAS OVERHEATED SO SEVERELY THAT THE ENGINE NO LONGER HAS COMPRESSION.THE HEAT TABS INSTALLED BY THE VENDER HAVE "POPPED" INDICATING THAT THE ENGINE WAS RUN AT TEMPERATURES EXCEEDING 260F DEGREES. I INFORMED THE CUSTOMER OF THIS AND HE TOLD ME THAT HE WENT TO JAIL FOR 2 WEEKS AND HIS COUSIN HAD HIS TRUCK WHILE HE WAS IN JAIL AND THAT WHEN HE GOT IT BACK HE ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE IT AND IT OVERHEATED. HE STATED HE NOTICED IT GETTING HOT AND CONTINUED TO DRIVE UNTIL THE VEHICLE DIED ON HIM. IN GOOD FAITH, WE STILL TOOK A LOOK AT THE VEHICLE AND REACHED OUT TO OUR VENDER TO SEE IF THEY COULD WORK WITH US AS FAR AS POSSIBLY WORKING OUT A WAY TO WARRANTY THE ENGINE. UNFORTUNATELY, OUR VENDOR WILL NOT WARRANTY AN ENGINE THAT HAS BEEN OVERHEATED, WHICH IS ALSO STATED ON THERE INVOICE AND THAT INFORMATION IS PASSED ON TO OUR CUSTOMERS. THE ONLY SOLUTION HERE IS FOR THE CUSTOMER TO AGAIN REPLACE THE ENGINE THE CUSTOMER DAMAGED. AS A RESPONSIBLE VEHICLE OWNER IT IS THE OWNERS JOB TO WATCH ALL GAUGES AND PAY ATTENTION TO THE TEMPERATURE , OIL PRESSURE , FUEL GAUGE, ECT. AND MAKE COMMON SENSE DECISIONS ON WHAT TO DO IN CERTAIN  DRIVING SITUATIONS . MOST ENGINES OPERATE BETWEEN 200-220F DEGREES AND CAN HANDLE SLIGHTLY HIGHER TEMPS THAN THAT FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME AND STILL MAINTAIN RELIABILITY. HOWEVER, ENGINES CAN NOT BE DRIVEN AT TEMPERATURES IN EXCESS OF 260F DEGREES WITHOUT CAUSING SEVERE DAMAGE AND VOIDING ANY WARRANTIES. THIS CUSTOMERS WARRANTY IS VOID DUE TO SEVERE OVERHEATING. WHICH ,IN THIS CASE, WAS CAUSED INTENTIONALLY WHEN THE CUSTOMER DID NOT PULL OVER AND HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED BEFORE OVERHEATING DAMAGE COULD OCCUR. INSTEAD THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN AT  A HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR A VERY LONG AMOUNT OF TIME UNTIL ENGINE DAMAGE OCCURRED CAUSING ENGINE FAILURE.

    THANK YOU

I am rejecting this response because:

On or around November 9th, The truck was towed back to Fast Eddies by State Fair. The dealer told me about the overheating issue, I asked about the warranty, he claimed there was none. Fast Eddies lied about where the engine was purchased in October. The engine was purported to be Purchased from County Line. Upon calling County Line, they claimed the engine wasn't purchased there. I confronted Fast Eddies, and he said "oh". Then told me where the engine was actually purchased. This man is a liar and wont get my business, and I will let others know how he scammed me. It has not been 90 days since the engine was replaced. Why did the car overheat already? Why did you yell at and shout at me over the phone, but wouldn't talk to me when I came for the car. I never disrespected you. I received an invoice on notebook paper, this was incredibly unprofessional. I would like some of my funds returned to allow me to take the car somewhere else to be repaired. Fast Eddies said bring me $3500 and He could fix the engine again. I feel this is me being taken advantage of.

I am rejecting this response because:

You lied about where the engine was purchased. I feel like you are trying to scam me. I feel like you refurbished an engine that you had at your shop, and not purchasing me a used engine. I was told not to let the engine idle. I feel the engine wasn't quite ready when we took it. Drivers side wheel was punctured when I picked up the car. You state there is a 90 day warranty, then that there was no warranty. I am only asking for 50% of my funds refunded, or you provide a working engine, and I will pay for labor.

We paid you $2500.00, for the engine plus $300.00 for the fan. Half of these funds refunded to me would make me content.

there will be no refund for any of our services. You avoid your warranty when you overheated your engine. We did not charge you for a fan and we took a loss of 9 hours of labor to an engine in your vehicle for you. You are clearly lying about what service were performed here at our shop. It is against the law to call my vendors and pretend you are an employee of my company. I will be filing a complaint with the Johnson county sheriff's office and will be pressing charges for fraud. I will not respond to the better business bureau again. The better business bureau is allowing a customer to lie about service. I cannot call and talk. I am not going to sit here and have debates through the internet. If you would like to take this matter to small claims court, i will gladly show up with all my documents including your invoice that is professionally printed and not on notebook paper that shows that you signed and agreed that if you overheated your engine, your warranty would be void. You are no longer allowed on the property of fast Eddie's garage and once again I will be filing fraud charges against you for calling my vendors and pretending you are an employee of our shop I am sorry that you cannot take care of your vehicle properly and destroyed your engine it is not my job to hold your hand and make sure you check your fluids and properly maintain your vehicle. I showed you your old engine and I lost $500 on the heads that I put on your old engine. I also lost 9 hours of labor on the removal and replacement of the engine to help you out and went out of my way to work with you to give you an extremely fair price on that engine, I invite you to call around and see what it would cost you at other shops. As I have said before, this will be my last response to your better business bureau claim. I look forward to seeing you in court.
