A telemarketer called my work office line to sell me insurance. I informed them that this was a business and please do not call. Called a second time on another day. I informed them that this was a business and please do not call. Called a third time and I asked to speak to a supervisor and the person hung up. Called a forth time, I went along with the call as if I needed insurance. When I asked for a phone number, the person hung up. Called multiple times since then. Called today and I went the distance to get the company information. This call ended because the representative said he needed my SSN at that time. I told him I would need to verify that this was a legitimate call and not a criminal. He said he could not continue then. What I am seeking is to have them NEVER CALL ME AGAIN and compensate me for my time and the harrasement.

    Business Response

    Date: 03/16/2023

    Dear Better Business Bureau,

Thank you for bringing Mr. *****'s complaint to our attention. We understand the frustration and inconvenience that unwanted calls can cause, and we apologize for any inconvenience Mr. ***** has experienced.

After conducting a thorough investigation, we discovered that although we have indeed communicated with Mr. *****, North Star Insurance Advisors did not initiate the calls directly to him. Instead, a third-party organization forwarded the call to our company. We want to clarify that we take customer feedback seriously and always strive to respect their preferences.

Further investigation revealed that the third-party organization provided validation that the number they were calling had inquired about information for life insurance. However, the name they listed was not **** *****, leading us to believe that there may have been a typo or error in the information provided by the original individual who was expecting our call.

To address Mr. *****'s concerns, we have taken the following actions:

    1. We have added Mr. *****'s phone number to our internal Do Not Call list, ensuring he will not receive any further calls from our company.

    2. We are reviewing our relationship with the third-party organization that initiated the calls to prevent similar issues in the future and to ensure better quality control when handling customer information.

We appreciate the opportunity to address this issue and hope that our response resolves Mr. *****'s complaint satisfactorily. We can assure you that we have taken corrective actions to prevent any further unwanted calls.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require any additional information or have further concerns.

    Sincerely,

    --

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: They have provided zero evidence that
this was a third party call.  It is difficult to accept this explanation
due to the very questionable business practices of North Star Insurance
    Advisors.

First example of dishonest behavior: the North Star Insurance Advisor representative
stated that he would need my social security number to continue.  I
explained that since it was he who originated the call, the only way I could
determine that this was not a scam to acquire my SSN was for the representative
to give me the contact information for North Star Insurance Advisors.
Once I could verify the company was legit, I would call back and provide that
information.  The representative said that was not possible.  He must
have the SSN during this call to continue.

Second example: every attempt to reach anyone at any of the numbers listed
for North Star Insurance Advisors (including their website) has failed.  I tried multiple days
and times.  I have no reason to believe that these phone numbers are anything
more than an attempt to disguise a criminal enterprise.

To resolve this, provide the contact information on the third party and contact information for North Star Insurance Advisors that works.

    Sincerely,

    **** *****
