In the later months of 2021 CB Customs owner came to my home and thoroughly inspect my vehicle, gave me a price of $14,000. to $15,000 to restore my 1978 Ford Fairmont. He did not tow the vehicle until June of 2022 and began to restore in July of 2022. He asked me to began making payments every month towards the price he quoted as stated above, I have paid $12,600.00 as of October, 2022. I visited CB's place of business Feb, 2023 at that time he stated that he had not worked on the vehicle since November 2022, and i needed to pay $8,000 to began restoring the vehicle again, and when the car is completely restored I will owe a total of $14,000. I imformed him that wasn't our verbal agreement, our agreement was he would restore the entire vehicle for at least $15,000. I told him I would pick the car up, he then stated if I want the vehicle back, pay him $14,000.0 he would put the parts taken off vehicle back on the vehicle and give the car back to me, I asked about the parts he said he ordered, they was never ordered by CB Customs. The invoice number is ****.

To whom it may concern,                                                February 22, 2023

Regarding the matter of the 1978 Ford Fairmont, owned by ***** ****** of *** ******* * ****** ******* *** *****. An estimate was performed in or around the fall of 2019, by **** *******. At that time an estimate was made for restoration of the above vehicle, between $14,000 – $15,000. The vehicle was towed to the former location in Paris, MS around June of 2020, prior to availability of spot in line for restoration. The restoration process began around the fall of 2021, during which extensive corrosive rust was noted. At that time Mr. ****** was brought in and shown the damage caused by the long-term rust issue which covered the entire floor pan, firewall, and roof rails. The customer was informed that the cost of the restoration was going to increase but we could not give an exact amount due to parts, sheet metal, fabrication, etc. The floor pans, roof rails, etc. were not available for purchase as a unit so it required a body repair technician to tear down, fabrication, and welding, as well as to sand and repair the body panels of a forty-four-year-old vehicle that was not stored properly for numerous years prior to being brought to CB’s Customs for repair.
In September of 2021 Mr. ****** made an initial payment of $2545.71 (invoice #*). August 1, 2022, a payment of $2,400 (invoice # ****). August 26, 2022, a payment of $3,200 (invoice # 1205). October 3, 2022, a payment of $6,000 and November 7, 2022, a payment of $1000 (both invoice # ****). Mr. ****** came sometime in December of 2022 and told us at the “first of the year he would come in and catch-up payments”. At that time, he owed $14,973.90 and he was informed of his balance for work already performed (see invoice #****) and given another copy of his invoice for clarification. It wasn’t until the middle of February of this year that we had heard from Mr. ******. He called and requested the status of his car, and we informed him that we had to halt restoration of the vehicle until payments were made because the work that was performed already totaled almost fifteen thousand dollars. He stopped by the shop, and we discussed how much he would need to pay to continue repair of his vehicle. He was informed that since he was such a good customer that we would take eight thousand dollars of the fourteen plus thousand that he was behind, then he could make payment arrangements on the rest. He expressed that he wanted to pay it all in one lump sum. After discussions between the owners, the body repair technicians, and the mechanic (Mr. ****** wanted an updated braking system installed) that he would owe an estimated fifteen thousand to twenty thousand dollars on top of his current balance ($14,973.90). We then discussed that when complete he would have invested fifty thousand dollars into the restoration of his 1978 Ford Fairmont. He questioned the amount and we explained, once again, that what he had been billed for was body labor that was already completed (note attached invoices). The work that still remained consisted of: entire body paint of vehicle, interior reupholstered as well as carpeting, installation of radio and speakers, new tires and wheels, updating the braking system. He informed us that he was “going to go talk to the lady at the bank and would be back in with us the following week”. The next notification we received came from the BBB of Mississippi via email on 2/21/2023. At no time were any parts paid for and not purchased. We are disappointed that he has decided not to complete the project, however, there still remains the balance for work performed to the amount of $14,973.90. We agreed to replace all the panels, doors etc. back on the vehicle as well as any parts he purchased that have not been installed so that he may install them at his leisure once he pays his remaining balance and the vehicle is returned.
All correspondence regarding this complaint as well as all invoices have been forwarded to our attorney.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

     Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

This is not what the original agreement was.  I was not told of the extra cost until the 16th of February.
    The deal was $15,000.

    Regards,
