Our family would not recommend Blaze a Trail and would recommend families use a different provider for board & train services. We found this company online and liked the idea of supporting a small business and someone that appeared to be starting again in a new career. We had our sweet dog stay for a 30-day board and train. However, we found communication to be lacking as another reviewer described under a ******** review. I had to initiate a check in about every 5-6 days to request updates. Updates are not a consistent part of this business and minimal visibility is given while your dog is there. Upon the day of pickup, the owner had a personal emergency with her own pet and asked to reschedule, stating she would call the next morning. We understood and agreed. The next morning the owner never called. I texted in the afternoon- no response. I called and left a voicemail and the owner called back at 4:30 and was overtly hostile and unprofessional. She even claimed, wrongly, that she could have kept our dog "per the contract" until our dog was trained (details that do no exist in the contract). I was floored at her complete lack of professionalism. Please do not make our mistake. Do not send your dog to an unappreciative owner that does not provide the "regular updates" as promised in her contract and website. I do not believe our dog was even consistently trained every day- but then again, how could you know as you do not get updates and the owner flatly said she isn't "required" to provide any. Our girl does not seem the happy go lucky dog we dropped off and seems more somber, not like a loved animal that has been trained for 30 days. I have prided myself on not speaking poorly of a business online, but I honestly leave this review so that others do not make the mistake we did.

The day ******************* dropped her dog off at my kennel for my stay and train program, she was hysterical about leaving her dog for training because she said her dog was frightened by other dogs barking and she was afraid her dog would become aggressive. My kennel tech was so stunned by her reaction that she called me and asked me to call her. When I called *****, she thanked me for taking time to call her and reassure her.***** also stated she found communication to be lacking and she had to check in every 5-6 six days which is not the case, as evidenced below in the timeline of text messages exchanged between us during the time ***** was in training.1. **** 1st text from me to ***** with pictures of ***** and telling her that ***** was doing great and that she was a love bug. ***** replied Oh good, Im so glad! Thank you!2. June 3rd text from me to ***** telling her ***** was doing great and we loved her. ***** replied, Im so glad to hear that.3. June 10th text from ***** asking how ***** was doing and I responded she was doing great, and she loves every dog, shes smart, and her training was going great. I told ***** that ***** was not scared of any of the dogs barking at her. ***** asked for some more photos and/or videos of ***** when I had a chance. I told her I would send those ASAP. Later that afternoon, I sent ***** a video of ***** and another training dog playing together. She thanked me for sharing it and stated that it was so good to see ***** running around and having fun.4. June 14th I texted ***** to tell her ***** was doing well and we were working on getting those training videos to her ASAP. That same day, we sent her three videos of ***** being trained and she thanked me for them.5. June 20th ***** texted to ask when ****** last day of the program would be and I responded that I was out of town and would look at my calendar and text her back the date.6. June 21st I texted ***** the date of ****** last day of training.7. June 25th ***** texted to ask how ***** was progressing in training. I responded she knew all her basic obedience commands and could walk on her leash without pulling.8. June 27th We texted ***** two more videos of ***** training and walking on leash and she responded ***** was looking great. I told her ***** would be ready to go home on Sunday.9. June 30th I texted ************ had an emergency with one of my personal dogs and would get back with her the next morning about rescheduling her go home session. ***** responded it was fine and to contact her the next day about the session.10. July 1st at 1:44 pm ***** texted me asking how things were going and she wanted to check in. I responded at 4:19 pm and told her I would call her as soon as I could since I was in the middle of training dogs. I called her at 4:35 pm that same day to discuss a day and time.****** statement that I was hostile and unprofessional when I returned her call is untrue. ***** was the one who was extremely hostile to me when I called her. She would not let me talk and kept interrupting me with insults and even stated she did not know how I could possibly have and run a business. In that conversation, I NEVER claimed I could keep her dog per the contract until her dog was trained.I am VERY offended that ***** would say that I am an unappreciative owner who does not provide regular updates. I provide updates to EVERY dog who comes in for boarding or training at my kennel WHEN its possible. Neither my website nor my contract state I will provide regular updates. For ***** to say her dog was not consistently trained every day when the videos sent prove otherwise, is another untrue statement.****** accusation of ***** does not seem the happy go lucky dog we dropped off is not true. The videos and pictures we sent to her prove otherwise. ***** must be confusing the fact ***** now behaves because SHE IS TRAINED not to jump and run around.Obviously, this woman cannot be pleased.
