The date of the transaction was July 3, 2023. My son, ****** *******, and I, ***** ******* went to Liberation’s Publishing House to make and publish a comic book title(****). I paid Liberation’s Publishing a total amount of $1500 to publish a comic book for my son ****** ******* which he wrote. ****** ****** CEO of Liberation’s Publishing, promised that ******’s comic book would be animated and in paperback form. The business was not committed to us. The owner had her daughter draw a picture that looked like a first grader went on the computer and doodled the character ****. We told her that we didn’t like the character picture of ****. ****** never contacted us back. I attempted on several occasions to contact her, no response. I had to contact Liberation’s Publishing, ****** ****** on December 11, 2023, to inform her that we no longer want her as a Publishing Company, because she would not contact or provide us with any information concerning ******’s comic book, ****. On December 12, 2023, she sent an email terminating ****** and my agreement for the comic book, ****. She stated she destroyed all images and manuscripts. Also, she stated she will process and return the $1500 to me on or before January 15, 2024. On that same email, she sent some terrible unprofessional illustrations. The nature of the dispute is that she never honored her agreement to pay me back as agreed by her email. I sent a reminder by text on January 10, 2024, for our refund, she didn’t respond. I waited until January 17, 2023, to call ****** ******, and left a message for her to call back concerning our refund she didn’t respond. I call back on January 19, 2023, about our refund. ****** called back and state the refund was not submitted back from her company to issue a refund and then she stated we might get half of the money back. I told her she had to honor her statement on her email. Today is February 9, 2024, and I haven’t heard from ****** ****** or gotten a refund. I just want our refund of $1500.

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your concerns. At Liberation's Publishing, we prioritize customer satisfaction and take every complaint seriously.
We appreciate the opportunity to address the points raised in your BBB complaint. Firstly, we want to reaffirm our dedication to providing excellent customer service. As a family-owned business, we take immense pride in our work, and our in-house illustrator, ******** ******, boasts a remarkable portfolio of over 30 books.
In regard to our collaboration with ***** and her son ******, who is a college student, not a minor, we were delighted to work closely with them on their project. ***** expressed satisfaction with our illustrator's work, even noting the resemblance of the main character to her son ******. ****** himself expressed further interest in the project and was eager to be involved. We extended an invitation for a one-on-one meeting at our office, which ****** accepted, culminating in the signing of the author agreement and the continuation of the book's development.
It's important to note that our signed agreement stipulates that any disputes are to be handled through arbitration. We stand by the terms outlined in our agreement and are fully committed to abiding by them.
Regarding the illustrations produced by our illustrator, we were unaware until January that ***** and ****** were dissatisfied with the work. We want to emphasize that our intention has always been to fulfill our obligations as outlined in the agreement. We apologize for any miscommunication or misunderstanding that may have occurred along the way.
We firmly believe in the arbitration process as a fair and impartial means of resolving disputes. As such, we are prepared to accept any ruling that arises from the arbitration proceedings.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions or if there are any additional steps we need to take to facilitate the arbitration process.
