This is a complaint against a towing company that unlawfully attempted to steal our vehicle WHEN WE WERE LEGALLY PARKED, and then demanded cash to "release" our vehicle.
This incident occurred Dec. 11, 2023. A Champion's tow truck driver attempted to steal our fully loaded vehicle when we were legally parked. He demanded a cash payment on the spot in order to not tow the vehicle. As the vehicle was filled with valuable merchandise, which he was attempting to steal, we were compelled to pay his ransom demand.
The key point here: we were NOT illegally parked. We were legally parked at the hotel where we were staying. There was NO signage indicating we were not allowed to park right outside of our hotel room. We have the photos to PROVE this.
Even the attempted vehicle thief, whose called himself *****, admitted there is NO signage indicating that hotel customers c***ot park right outside of their rooms. We have witnesses to verify he said this, and we have photos proving a total LACK of signage in the area where the attempted theft occurred, stating hotel customers c***ot park in the spaces right outside of their rooms.
Mr. ********* has taken $150 that did not belong to him. We want it back. If he has any legal right to claim that hotel customers c***ot park a few feet from their hotel-room doors, why does Mr. ********* not put up signs indicating same in that parking area? It appears he does not put up any "no parking" signs near the hotel so that he can perpetrate this extortion. This theft of LEGALLY PARKED vehicles, coupled with extortive insistence on immediate cash payment, is akin to abduction and ransom demands.
The remedies we seek: 1) return the $150 his henchman ***** took. 2) Place "no parking" signs in the parking area adjacent to the hotel (if he truly has a legal right to do so). An apology would be entirely appropriate too, but we aren't counting on it. Thieves and bullies rarely apologize for their evil deeds.Business Response

I am so sorry for the issue that has occurred. We are contracted in that area to tow anyone that parks there. I will try my best to explain. The hotel does not own the property that he vehicle was parked on & is supposed to let the hotel customers aware not to park there. I can assure you that we are not trying to steal your vehicle or any merchandise inside of the vehicle. We do not go through anybody personal belongings while they are parked on our lot. We offer a $150 drop fee or it is a $250 tow fee once we leave the property with the vehicle in our possession. The customer did not pay the $150 an employee of the hotel did because he was not told not to park there. There is plenty of signage up & i do agree that there be more up but no worries we are going to put more signage up to let people know that they are not allowed to park there whatsoever. I am sorry for all of this but i can not offer back the $150 because you parked in an illegally parked spot. You were not legally parked where you should have been parking. Again I apologize for the misunderstanding & I hope this clears the situation up with you! You will find attached pictures and the contract from the property owner!
Thank you!

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:
From the days of Cain and Abel, the LIE has been the first
choice of wicked people to cover their malicious deeds. That is why the reply of Mr. *********,
proprietor of Champion’s Towing of Columbus, is so predictable. As a deceitful businessman, Mr. *********
knows that if he repeats lies often enough, it might confuse objective
outsiders, clouding the clear light of TRUTH.
This serves to accomplish one goal: continuing to steal and extort money
through ruthless and illicit means. Thus, our response will state truths AND offer clear
evidence to support them. In the
process, our response will expose Mr. *********’s falsehoods. The following are true statements:
1. We have no objection to lawful towing of vehicles that are parked illegally.
2. To claim that someone has “parked illegally” requires a showing of proof.
3. Mr. ********* and Champion’s Towing is not engaged in lawful towing. It is operating outside of the law, making profits through illegal means.
4. In order for a vehicle to be illegally parked, there must be clear and unmistakable signage throughout every area that is off-limits for parking.
5. Our van was legally parked outside our room at the Quality Inn on Dec. 11. (PICTURE B)
6. The parking area in question is immediately adjacent to Quality Inn and a few feet from many of the hotel’s rooms. (PICTURE C)
7. There was absolutely no such signage anywhere in the parking area immediately adjacent to Quality Inn. (PICTURES A and C)
8. The existence of sets of stairs leading from those rooms to the parking lot would lead any reasonable person to believe that the parking area belongs to Quality Inn, and thus that it is legal to park there -- next to the hotel rooms on that wing. (PICTURES C and E)
9. In light of this proof, Mr. ********* made a profoundly (and predictably) false claim when he wrote that our vehicle was illegally parked.
10. Mr. ********* c***ot show proof of any signage in the area adjacent to the Quality Inn. Why? Because there is none. (PICTURES A, B, C and E)
11. Mr. ********* and his Champion’s Towing company have adequate signage in other parking lots and areas – places where people are unlikely to ever park. (PICTURE D)
12. He has chosen not to place ANY no-parking signs in the parking area adjacent to the Quality Inn. (PICTURES A, B, C and E)
13. Mr. ********* insists in grossly irresponsible error that it is Quality Inn’s responsibility to tell its customers not to park outside of their rooms. It is not. It is Mr. *********’s responsibility to notify drivers not to park just outside of their hotel rooms through clear, visible signage placed in the area where they are not permitted to park. If the parking area is truly not available to Quality Inn customers, then the responsibility for placing proper signage belongs to Mr. ********* and Champion’s Towing.
14. Our friend ***, who works at Quality Inn and is familiar with Mr. *********’s extracurricular methods, paid the $150 to Mr. *********’s extortive henchman *****. We want Mr. ********* to return ***’s money to her.
15. The time has come for people of good conscience to stand up to Mr. ********* and his corrupt business practices.
The
following are logical conclusions to draw from the above true statements:1. Mr. *********, aided by his arrogant henchman *****, is deliberately baiting Quality Inn customers to park in this area due to his deliberate choice not to post any no-parking signage in the parking area adjacent to Quality Inn. (PICTURES A, B, C and E)
2. Mr. *********’s henchman ***** lies in wait for Quality Inn customers to park. Once they are safely in their hotel rooms, arrogant henchman ***** comes by well after dark and begins stealing their cars, repeating the lie that Quality Inn customers are illegally parked there, and cavalierly dismissing the total absence of no-parking signage.
3. ***** the henchman extorts payment from them on the spot. If they do not pay, ***** steals their vehicle.
4. Mr. ********* would like you to believe he is engaged in a lawful towing operation, when he is not. He is baiting people to park where they should not by his willful and total absence of no-parking signage. This enables him to make large sums of money from his victims.
5. If there was proper signage in the parking area adjacent to Quality Inn, it would deprive Mr. ********* of ill-gotten profits.
6. This is why Mr. ********* has not placed ANY no-parking signage in the parking area adjacent to the Quality Inn. (PICTURES A, B, C and E)
Once again,
we state our desired remedies:1. That Mr. ********* return the $150 he extorted through his henchman *****
2. That Mr. ********* immediately place an abundance of clear no-parking signage in the parking area immediately adjacent to Quality Inn.Failure to
perform these two simple and appropriate remedies will make abundantly clear
the fraudulent nature of this scandalously illicit business practice. Should that be the case, we recommend that
the Better Business Bureau warn its clientele of Mr. *********’s illegal scheme
through his Champion’s Towing business and downgrade its rating accordingly.
Regards,***** *** ***** ******

After reading all of this, I still don't understand. The contract and pictures was presented to you for my legal services to tow from this area per the restaurant owners who doesn't want anyone on the property because they trying to sell the property. As I stated the first time you (*****) did not pay the bill to get the vehicle dropped. The hotel owners failed to tell you to not park there and paid the bill for their mistake.
