I was charged 18k for a new roof. What I got was a patch job and new shingles. The “new roof” was installed on top of old and rotting wood and will give way with the first good ice storm. The roof is soft and spongy and the recommended plywood board thickness was not used for the space we have in our rafters. The company is unwilling to fix unless we pay thousands more.

      To Whom This May Concern:

We have since been out to the property and talked about the complaints at hand with Mrs. *******.  We admit that there could have been better communication at various times during construction.  A majority of these concerns had legitimate reasons, specifically the "old and rotted wood" was from a flat roof that had been framed over with new wood.  This roof line was constructed prior to our date of service.  The homeowners were unaware of this additional construction to the back of their home - it happened before they purchased the home.  The framing members were resting on a solid exterior wall and tied into a solid high point as well.  There was no reason to get into the old wood because it served no purpose in the new design.  As far as the deck sheathing is concerned, the home was decked with a 3/8 inch system.  We matched what was there and ended up replacing 15 sheets of rotten plywood.  With the homeowner on site, we walked the entire deck post construction, and it seemed to be structurally sound.  We also got into the attic to inspect for any missed rotted wood and also performed a full roof/attic inspection.  During this inspection, we noted rotten soffit and fascia on the rear extension of the home.  This rotten soffit and fascia was not included in our contracted scope of work; however, we elected to replace and paint the rotten wood as a courtesy to Mrs. *******.  In addition to that, we also removed the charge for the 15 sheets of rotten plywood replaced during the roof replacement.  Per our contract, two sheets of decking were included, and we should have charged for 13 sheets at $100 per sheet.  However, we removed that fee and resent the invoice to Mrs. *******.  After the inspection noted above as well as the replacement of the additional soffit and fascia and the invoice adjustment, we have spoken to Mrs. ******* several times.  She expressed to us that she is happy with the outcome of the repairs and has paid her invoice in full.  A copy of of our warranty has also been emailed out to Mrs. *******.  We have attached pictures of the rotten soffit and fascia before and after our replacement.  Should you need anything further, please don't hesitate to contact us.
