    Contractor was hired to build a deck for my home. First, numerous delays in starting work. On 2 occasions his employees had alcoholic beverages on site; on 1 occasion a marijuana vape was used. I have 4 children at home, marijuana order was clearly noticed inside.He contacted me late afternoon on 7/31/2023 stating they were almost done and demanded I come home and pay the remaining balance in full. The contract stipulated full payment upon completion of work and inspection. I had informed him I was unable to go to the house at the time due to a family emergency. He threatened to place a lien on my home. I asked him to wait until the next morning but he refused. We did calm down and meet the next day. He let me know all they had left was cleanup and debris/equipment removal. I paid the balance of the project.On 8/04/2023 he texted me stating he would be out Monday (8/97/2023) to get everything. He did not show up or make contact. On 8/19/2023 he texted me stating he had been in the hospital and would be here that day. He did not show up or make contact.On 9/07/2023 I sent the owner a text asking him to remove the debris and equipment. I said the stuff needs to be removed or I will have to hire someone and have the invoice sent to him. He promised it would be complete on 9/11/2023. It is now 9/12/2023 and he has not fulfilled his end of the contract.When I paid him in 8/01/2023 I rounded up $60 also as a good will gesture.I will be storing his property inside a locked shed until the debris is adequately removed. At that point I will turn over his property. I am requesting this to be completed no later than 9/18/2023. Additionally, I am requesting an adequate refund for the significant delay in project completion (clean up is part of the project) and compensation for storage of his property and equipment for 40+ days.
