Terry Liggett was called due to my septic backing up. He stopped by and stated he did not have the needed parts and could not fix it currently. I had another company repair the problem since they had the needed parts. Turns out it was not the problem Liggett Construction had stated. It was the sump pump in the basement. After the problem was fixed by a different company, I received a bill for $260 for an estimate. I was not told there would be a fee for an estimate. have reached out to the company 3 times with no response to try to resolve this. I have no invoice since I was never told about the estimate fee just a quote to fix the septic .

      Business Response

We appreciate the opportunity to respond to complaint ID 23423867 and provide clarification.

The customer contacted TLC Drain Cleaning/Terry Liggett Construction to inspect a reported issue with a backed-up septic system. Upon arrival, we performed diagnostic work to assess the problem, which included evaluating the system components and determining possible causes of the backup. This is standard practice and falls under our diagnostic service call, which was clearly documented internally as a billable visit.

We did not proceed with any repair, as the customer declined our quote after the diagnostic assessment. No parts were installed, and no repair was attempted because the customer opted to use another provider. The $250 charge was not for a quote, but rather for diagnostic labor and time on site, which was completed and communicated during the initial service call by technician to the customer.

After the visit, the customer was invoiced for the diagnostic service. When she contacted us following receipt of the invoice, we spoke directly by phone. During that conversation, she acknowledged understanding the invoice and agreed to pay for the diagnostic portion of the service. Out of good faith and resolution, we have since closed out the invoice and are not pursuing further collection.

We take customer service seriously and apologize if there was any misunderstanding. We will continue to improve our communication around service charges at the time of dispatch to ensure clarity for all future clients.

      Sincerely,

      Terry Liggett
