On February 16, 2024 we had MT Exteriors install 6 windows in our house at a cost of $13,180.00. After installation we noticed that the wood trim had been replaced with cheap knotty pine boards with cracks and splinters and lots of silicone filler. When we asked the owner why he replaced the trim he said sometimes that's what we do. We have come to find out from another window installer that this was done because the installed windows were not the correct size so filler trim had to be installed. I have since had to totally rebuild the window frames And trim and also have the shades professionally resized to fit the new windows. I have spent over $800.00 for new trim and paint plus $300.00 to have the shades cut to fit. Not to mention the 60 or so hours of my own labor. I asked ***, the owner for compensation and he refuses to answer my calls or emails. I can resolve this matter with a check for $1500.00 for all the work I have had to make my windows look like they should have from the beginning. The quality of work from this contractor is sub par. On a separate note we are still dealing with the window manufacturer to replace two of the defective windows. Not the installers fault, but maybe they should not have been installed from the beginning due to defects.

Upon doing our window install casement and trim were necessary on this retrofit.  **** left any decisions to his very sweet wife ****** and we gave her several options as to what type of material could be used. We installed what she requested. During the install ****** made us a heaping mound of fresh cookie and expressed how happy she was and thanked us. I guess if **** was wanting something different he should have stayed for the install to make them instead of leaving them to his wife who expressed how happy she was with everything upon completion.  Sorry **** but I fulfilled my contract with you.

I am rejecting this response because:  we were not told that the windows would require new trim and casement.  My wife, *****, was not aware that the windows would require new trim and casement and she didn't know what the finished result was supposed to look like.  ***** was pleased with the windows, but not the "finished" work.  She questioned the massive amount of caulking that was used to fill the spaces around the windows.   We had to replace the trim and casement on all the windows as well as paint them.  We also had to replace the blinds as they no longer fit the the windows.  We have had other contractors look at the windows and they stated the windows were sized incorrectly and the quality of the work was very poor.  We would like to be reimbursed for the cost of the "replacement" trim and casing, the paint and the blinds.  The cost was $1500.00.  This has been unresolved for over a year.

    Sincerely,

    **** *****
