Our company located in ****** had a truck breakdown. Paid EMS $3,300 USD to tow unit to border. They could not take our trailer and they made a verbal agreement with our President on a rate of $35/day to leave the trailer in their yard. The yard is not gated and not secured. $35 is reasonable. Went to retrieve trailer today, and now the rate is $100/day x 23 days = $2300 USD. They refused to release our trailer. Kept our driver and trailer hostage for three hours while we waited to speak to owner. No owner ever called us back. The service writer (female) was very rude and unprofessional. Tried to get a copy of the recording of the phone call and not surprisingly she couldn't find it. Spoke to our lawyer to see what rights we have, and was advised to pay the bill and proceed with Consumer Protection and BBB complaints. I call this taking advantage of of consumers for own greed and profit. If you want good service, friendly people and quality work where they stand by their word...stay away from EMS. Way to kick a customer when they are down. Price gauging at it's finest. When a customer has a complaint, upper ********************** should get involved but this not provided to us. It was the service writers word and pricing, and if we didn't agree to charge then we could not take our trailer. When a company holds YOUR equipment as ******, a business like this should not be allowed to operate. There was no working with us so that both parties were happy and in agreement with the charges. EMS was not out any costs by us leaving the trailer in their muddy yard. We were not interfering in their daily operations. We did not use any power or cost EMS anything by leaving our trailer outside in an ungated, unsecured yard. There was no written agreement made. It was her price or no trailer. I do not think that a business should hold this much power over someone else property. I will proceed with *** MT Consumer Protection as well.
