      Solestone sent a bill to a collection agency, *************************************, without ever contacting the patient. Solestone states that what the insurance had paid what was not sufficient for the services rendered by *********************** for transporting a patient to the emergency room after an accident. ************************************* bought the debt from Solestone and they too never contacted the patient till February 2025. The accident occurred on July 21, 2023 for which the emergency transport from ************** to the emergency **** was required and then because of the seriousness of the injury, the patient then required transport to *********************** to the **** The patients insurance paid 2/3rd of the bill and the patient was told by the insurance claim that nothing was due by the patient. Solestone states that because they are not in a contract with *****, their policy is to collect the full amount from the patient and will not accept only what the insurance has reimbursed them for. This is unethical and scrupulous, not to mention sending the bill to a collection agency without ever contacting the patient regarding the outstanding bill as per Soelstone.

      SoleStone followed all billing protocols according to the information provided. In the State of Montana, ambulance services are not prohibited from balance billing.

      I am rejecting this response because: the issue was not that they cannot bill for the balance but the process that they took is not acceptable.  They had the incorrect address for the patient and without doing due diligence in trying to contact the patient, the balance was forwarded to a collection agency to collect.  When trying to contact Solestone to find out why the bill was sent to the collection agency, I never got a response till I contacted BBB and Big Sky *********.  After this, Solestone cancelled the bill and asked the collection agency to cancel the account.  Big Sky ********* agreed with me that Solestone did not follow their procedure to bill the balance on the account.  As of now, the balance has been cancelled by ************ **** because they are in agreement with my dispute.

      Hi,

       

      I wanted to update BBB that Solestone contacted me and resolved the issue - they have cancelled the debt and have sent the patient letters confirming the same.  The patient also received a letter from the collection agency, *************************************, stating that the debt has been cancelled and the balance is $0.0.   I also contacted ************************ the originator of the bill and they too contacted Solestone cancelling the debt/account as ********************** did not follow the correct and acceptable procedure to collect a bill that ************************ adheres to.

       

      Thank you for looking into this matter.  I appreciate that there are avenues such as BBB to seek help from.
