    I bought 2 packages of sunflower seeds in mid November 2023. I opened one and used some and felt ill after eating them, so I gave them to my mother, thinking I had developed an allergy to sunflower seeds. My mother informed me they were rancid and that's why I felt ill from eating them. She gave them back and told me to go get a refund. I took the 2 bags, one opened and missing about a 3rd of the bag which was used by my mother on a big salad, which had to be thrown away, and my couple handfuls that made me ill, which is how I discovered the rancid product. I went to return them today, 12/2/23. The manager refunded me for the unopened bag and said she couldn't refund me for the opened one. This violates all common sense, as I had to open it and consume it to find out it was bad. She said they went bad because there weren't any of "her" moisture absorbing packets in the packets of seeds. This was their error for not packaging with moisture absorbing packets correctly, and my getting no refund, after having ill health effects from consuming her product, and mom throwing away a big salad, is unacceptable. I will no longer shop there, and I will have to warn all my friends and aquintances to be aware of these unacceptable practices of selling rancid products and not refunding the customer when rancidity is discovered.

    This customer brought in 2 packages of Sunflower seeds that were past sell by dates (October 2023) with no proof of purchase to prove that he bought them in November. One of the bags was 1/4 full the other unopened. We were able to refund the full bag, but not the open one because he had no way to prove when he bought the product.

    I am rejecting this response because: I fully expected that exact answer, because they refused to refund me for the opened bag, whichhad to be opened to find out the productwas stale, and that had been purchased prior to the expiration date. I had given to my mother in ***********, whom opened the bag and put of it on a salad, and then threw the salad away after tasting the stale seeds. I use to purchase seeds, nuts, and other bagged items from this store on a semi daily and weekly basis, and never took a receipt, when they ask if I wanted a receipt. I never expected to get bad product, and never expected a return issue for a product under 10 dollars. I further never expected to have a problem returning a product. If returns require a receipt, they shouldnt make getting a receipt optional. I have lived locally for 30 years, and started patronizing their establishment as soon as it opened, and would have thought they valued local customers who have been weekly customers that are familiar faces, but apparently they are too busy to pay attention to local familiar faces.
    I will not waste anymore time, money, and effort on a business who thinks a customer is more likely than not, to pull a scam, or something I cant concieve of, by returning stale product worth less than 10 dollars. I have spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on their products since they opened and will not spend anymore money there due to this distrustful attitude displayed. I never take receipts to save the paper, and that no reciept excuse is ridiculous. This is a small and mostly honest community, and this business is a new *****, and doesnt share my honesty values, so I will be happy to spend my hard earned money elsewhere. I just want this complaint to be filed and available to other citizens who experience similar cheap skate non refund, and spoiled product issues. I had never had bad product, or returned product before this incident. This was a bad experience for me and I wouldnt go through that again. Because they were willing to loose a loyal customer over under *********************************************************************** their management, and only wish my experience be recorded with the better business bureau for posterity and reference for future customer reviews. Because of their attitude, I expect nothing from this business, as they have stuck to their guns about their views and will not change.
