In Sept i msg Mr. ********* about trainjng my 6month old puppy. He quoted me a price and agree to train him for basic obedience. I paid him $400 on Oct 8 and $600 on Oct 28. Balance was due when i pick him up. On oct 29 Mr. **** msg me and told me he had covid so he missed a week of training and wanted to keep him an extra week. I agreed. The next week i msg him asking what time would he bring me my dog. He stated he had a last class and would bring him on Monday. I agreed. Monday came and he told me he that he tested my dog and he didnt pass. So his helpers didnt train my dog. I told him just to bring me my dog. He said ok. Later that evening he still has not showed up so i told him to give the address i will be there to pick him up. He gave me the address. I got there my dog was sickly skinny and covered in shit. I took my dog home. The next day I sent him a text asking for a refund. He said ok but still have not refunded my money. I paid him to train my dog and he didnt train him. No sit, no stay, no come.. On May 13 2022 I paid “structure k9 academy” a $200 deposit for a four week training course for my dog. On June the first I had car issues and other family problems so I could not continue to pay for the trading. On June 1,2022 I contacted the owner Eric L******** and explained my situation and requested my deposit to be refunded. He told me they don’t “generally” refund deposits. I relayed to the owner that I wasn’t aware of any “no refund” policy. The owner them assured me that there was NOT a no refund policy, and that he would refund my money in 7-10 business days. I agreed and waited 12 business day before contacting the owner again. For an entire week it was one excuse after another why he “couldn’t” give me my money back but he will contact me when he can give it to me. I simply reminded the owner or the previous info he had given me concerning the 7-10 business days and that he assured me I would get a refund. At that point the owner informed me that he will NOT be giving me my money back but offered no reason as to why. He told me not to contact him again and if I wanted the 200 dollars that bad to “sue him for the money”. I have texts and bank documents to prove what he told me and prove that I paid him when I said.

The owner is using “structure k9 academy llc” on his business cards and social media but when he requested payment from me, it said “L*******e dog training” on his cash app. So I’m really not sure what the actual name is. When I researched the so called business through the state there was no business by either name.  I am in the process of small claims court to recover my money.

    Business Response

    To whom it may concern,

This should serve as my official and final response to the complaining party.

****** booked a boarding stay with me through an app called *****. I mentioned as I do with each client that I'm also a dog trainer. ****** stated that she might be interested in doing a "Board & Train. I spoke to her about the details of training and what it costs. My 4 Week program is normally $2200 as I quoted ******. She stated that she had limited funds and I gave her a discounted quote of $1500. She agreed to pay a deposit of $500, which is less than normal. Usual deposit is half up front and half after program. ****** messaged me stating that she could send a $200 deposit and another $200 every two weeks until the 1500 was paid off. This is in no way how business is usually ran but I wanted to work with her, get her dog trained and earn a satisfied client.

Eventually, ****** sent the $200 via ******* as her deposit. I held her spot as I advised her that I try to keep it under 4 dogs in training. During the time waiting for her training to begin I literally turned away three clients at $2200, $1500 and $1800 so as not to be over booked.

On May 28th, ****** advised that she would be sending her next payment. She messaged me later stating she would need to hold off on next payment due to unforeseen issues but would stick to the schedule afterwards and pay extra on June 10th as well.

****** messaged me two days later on May 30th to say that she needed to "hold off" on the training due to car issues. I was actually out of town celebrating the holiday and my wedding anniversary when I received the text. I responded on June 1st advising that we normally do not refund a deposit due to the fact that we turn away business while holding the spot. I advised her that we could hold her deposit and resume payments when she was ready to begin training. ****** seemed discouraged and surprised but was cordial so finally I stated that contrary to our policy that we could get her refunded in 10 business days.

Business slowed down after the holiday and the clients I turned away had found other trainers. I was unable to send the refund at the time expected. I explained this to ****** and let her know that I hadn't forgotten. ****** became irritated and began speaking negatively about my business. She also called me, threatening to "come to my house with her husband and f**k me up." At that point I advised her that she would not be receiving a refund from me and that we would no longer do business at all. I hung up the phone and she began texting me being just as inappropriate.

I am not refunding ****** and I hope this does not put me in bad standing with the BBB in any way. If it does I will have to deal with it. However, I will not be threatened by anyone on the side of business and simply comply out of fear.

I can be reached at any time and look forward to your reply.

    Thanks

    Eric L********
