We had a consultation done on 7/19/2022 for having some hardscaping done at our property. The contractor for Milestone Hardscaping (***** ******) came out and spoke with us about what we wanted. He took some measurements and then charged $100 through ***** for the consult, which I promptly paid. ***** informed me that the next steps would be 3D renderings, which I said we DID NOT need because we are getting quotes from other companies as well. We just wanted to know the costs to compare. The following Friday he proceeded to send drawings/renderings through email. The renderings weren't even to scale and the layout was wrong. Then sent an invoice for $150 for the renderings. ***** then accidentally paid me $150 through ***** instead of requesting it. I immediately sent it back and re-stated that I did not ask for the drawings and therefore would not be paying. None of this (consultation or drawings) had a contract or signed documentation. In the last 3 days, I have received emails from ***** and ****** about how they are contacting a lawyer for small claims court. They also contacted my current contractor (******* ******) saying that I am not good for my word and do not pay my contractors. ******* was actually there on 7/19 and overheard me tell ***** that I DID NOT want the drawings and I was getting other quotes. This is bad business and I have reached out to my contractors to see what good practices are in this business and they all say I am being scammed.

    Business Response

***** contacted my company and asked for an estimate. When I spoke to ***** over the phone I explained to her that  estimates cost $100 and that I also can provide 3-D renderings where the price ranges between $150 up to $500. I also explain to ***** that the estimate and the rendering would be credited to her bill if she chose to go with our company. I met with ***** after she agreed to the estimate, while at her home I went over the prices of rendering and I said for a project this size we could get away with the $150 3-D rendering which she chose to go with(verbally). At that time I just asked her to send me a hundred dollars and I would start working on the rendering and I would be in touch with her. After going back-and-forth with her through email on the design changes it seemed that we finally came up with the design that she liked to go with. At that point I sent her an invoice for that design in which she responded to me in email saying that she did not want a 3-D rendering and only an estimate but only after the rendering was completed did she mention this. I even sent her an written estimate after that. I just wanted to be paid for the work that I did for her.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: I have a signed witness statement from my current contractor who was present the entire time of the consultation and heard everything I said. He has typed a statement which is attached and signed.

I can also get written character statements from several other companies I has used in the last two months where services were rendered and they were paid on time, immediately.

    Sincerely,
