Review: Mission Health - Tragic Experience Exposing Deep Flaws Our ordeal at Mission Health in Asheville, **, following my loved one's recent surgery, was deeply disappointing. The attending physician's unfamiliarity with the ER's operations caused confusion and distress. The staff seemed unaware and failed to provide updates or explanations, leaving us in the dark. My loved one was taken to an ************, and locating them was a disorganized process. A trainee's inexperienced attempts at a medical procedure caused further pain and discomfort. Throughout the ordeal, we received no explanations or informed consent, exacerbating our distress. Sadly, this distressing experience culminated in my loved one's tragic passing. The immeasurable pain shed light on deep-rooted flaws within Mission Health's operations and patient care. Urgent action is needed to rectify these issues and prevent others from enduring similar anguish. Mission Health must provide the quality care every patient deserves.

Received a bill from Mission Hospital and offered a 25% discount to pay in full. (2 different bill amounts so told to wait for new bill). Got new bill and called to pay in full w/25% discount. **** was $1783.40 (minus 25% discount @ $445.85). I paid $1337.55 on 10/2/2022. (phone)Received bill from Mission for $445.85. I thought this was another bill for hospital services and called and asked them to send to ******** to see if they would pay. Never heard anything back so thought that ******** had paid this amount. Then I get a bill from Medicredit for $445.85 and called Mission to see what this bill was for?The male told me I would have to call Medicredit.I called Medicredit and then realized that this bill was the credit that I received for paying the hospital bill in full. Someone forgot to note the discount! From this call till now I have been back and forth between Medicredit and Mission (for over a month) trying to get this resolved. Mission will not admit that someone made a mistake and correct the account. It should be obvious with the amounts shown of payment and discount equal the total amount.

Mission ******* Services gave my wife a price for a *** on 9/20/22 of $570 for a self-pay patient and told her to contact the radiologist for the cost to read the **** The radiologist gave her a price of $342. They were more than happy to schedule the appointment for Oct. 18th, 2022. Then on Thursday Oct. 13th they called to tell her she needed to pay 50% of the cost as a deposit by 5pm on Oct. 14th. She said ok. They then said that the "Good Faith ********* for the *** was $1,710.17 down from $2800 [the supposed actual cost] and they would cancel the appointment if she didn't pay an $855.09 deposit. After much round and round talking they said that the original price quoted was just an estimate and was wrong and did we want to pay the deposit. This bait and switch and refusal to give a price for the service and simply estimate the cost is wrong and people should know there are options, albeit farther away. We are now scheduling with *********************** of the Carolinas in *******, ** because they can actually give a price [$750 with contrast] without any hidden fees or run around. Demand transparency in medical billing!

My Dad was a patient there for 18 days after his open-heart surgery. It was a fiasco the entire time he was there. The care was not what we had hoped for and very disappointed in the communication. He had complications that clearly could have been avoided and he suffered cardiac arrest while admitted along with catching Covid in the hospital. The facility was extremely short staffed and unfortunately some of those working appeared to not like their job and made it known. When you would press the call button most of the time it would take 15 minutes or more to get assistance. He was a fall risk, so he needed attention a little sooner. The stockings were not placed on his legs after surgery, so he constantly was fighting fluid overload. If they moved him from chair to bed, they would leave the oxygen line unhooked, and I was constantly having to plug things back up. When I entered his room at one point, he had been on the potty chair and the individual that had assisted had left the wipes laying in the window seal used to clean him up. Honestly, I can say that I have never gone anywhere that is so unorganized. We had to take supplies with us to sponge him. There were never any towels or wash cloths. I had to take my own toilet paper and paper towels because the lobby in the heart tower was always empty. He never received a shower the entire time he was a patient. There were no pillowcases to be found. He had open heart surgery, and they were out of heart pillows for him to use when he had to cough. Clearly this place needs to be watched closely because it isn't fit to be open to serve the community. It's a dangerous place at this point.
