The agreed upon rate for my stay was $44/night and I paid the total amount for renting up front on 10/28/2024 in the amount of $3696.00. I was to stay from 10/28/24-01/25/25. I was paying for a clean and sanitary room to stay in. The first cold snap of the season brought ants into the apartment, around Thanksgiving time. I put out bait traps, cleaned everything, and ensured I did not have any open food out. I did not communicate the issue with the landlord at the time because ants coming in when it gets cold is not unheard of, and Im aware of how to manage them. The ants persisted for weeks and I was waiting for the bait traps to work. The situation became unmanageable around Christmas time when the weather became very cold again. I would come home from work at 3am and find them under the portable radiator or on the sink in the room. I let the landlord know the tiny house I was renting needed to be treated for ants beyond what I was already doing. I was absent from 12/28-1/1 and no food was left out. Any food in the tiny house as shelf-safe and sealed. The morning of 1/2, ants came out of the faucet and were climbing the walls. I let the landlord know this was unsanitary and unlivable. He was adamant that he could clean things and insinuated on multiple occasions that I was at fault or making up the issue. I sent the pictures and a video of the problem. I moved out early because of how disgusting it was and requested a partial refund for the month of January as I had to find other, sanitary accommodations. I was told I would not receive a refund. Im not sure a refund can be made possible, but the place needs to be fumigated so that another tenant doesnt have this experience.
