In April of 2023 SC design and build completed a custom front and back deck on my home, in which I paid $30,000 and signed a 2 year warranty for any potential repairs due to build/design issues. On the last day of the project, I asked the owner, *******, if there was any asthetic measures to be taken to cover the s**** holes on the railings and he suggested wood putty, in which his crew then covered (very copiously and sloppily) the holes in the wood railings. He said the wood putty would easily sand out when it came time to stain the wood. Several months later, when it came time to staing the deck, I noticed mold developing around the putty, I tried to sand out the putty myself, but it had seeped into the surrounding wood grain and was unable to be removed. Over the course of a month I left 3 voicemails and 5 text messages before ******* finally returned my my messages and agreed to replace the top railings with high quaility KDAT railings, and said I'd need to have them stained within a month in order to protect the quality of the wood. He promised he'd return that weekend to install them. He never showed, nor rescheduled. Over the next month I again sent many text messages and voicemails. He sporadically reponded saying he'd try to find time to replace the railings, but was a no-show, again. A month passed and I was concerned I wouldn't have the railings installed and stained in the recommended time, so I contacted another decking company to finish the job and they charged my $350 to install the railings, a reasonable price. I contacted ******* and asked to be reimbursed for the cost the other company charged me, since he failed to complete the job, and I was under a 2-year warranty that he signed, but has not fully honored. He agree to pay, but after a month, and reminders to pay-up, he still hasn't paid or honored the warranty. I am seeking re-imbursement for $350 for the price the other decking company charged to complete the job.

Contract agrees to complete deck flooring repair to be started on July 3 and be completed on or before July 7. A deposit of $8000 was paid to SC Design and Build on June 16 for materials. SC Design did not start the project until July 18 and as of today, August 14, the project is still not completed. The work was to be completed by one of the three tenured groups of builders on their staff. The team that came to the site for demo stated they had been hired on ********** for the job and had not worked with this company before. They left nails and debris all over the yard and a pile of wood in the driveway, that is still present to date. We asked the project manager to refrain from putting the dumpster on the concrete driveway and gave them an alternate location for placement. They verbally agreed but still put the dumpster on the driveway causing damage to the concrete. The demo team was to remove the floor boards but in doing so caused damage to the porch posts and wood structure. After doing a walk through with SC Design to show them the mess that had been created I still paid them the next deposit of $4000 to cover demo expenses with the understanding that the demo damage would be repaired. To date, it has not been repaired. The "final product" has nails sticking out of the wood, uneven cuts throughout, gaps between boards up to two inches wide, and trip hazards on thresholds. There is debris left all over our property including a three foot pile of wood sitting on our damaged concrete driveway. The owner continues to state he is going to come finish the job himself and make it perfect. He makes promises such as these but does not follow through. The project remains incomplete with no indication of a completion date. I am requesting a refund as the product/service provided has not been completed by professionals as promised and is now a safety concern for me and my family. Pictures of the poor craftsmanship described can be provided as needed.
