In August, we purchased 2 marble slabs from Bottega for a kitchen remodel. Bottega agreed to fabricate the slabs per the attached specifications. We paid $18,388.38. The slabs were installed on September 13th. Upon installation, we noticed that one slab was installed backwards and that the overhangs were shorter than what was agreed in the specifications. These defects have caused damage to our new cabinets. We'll have no choice but to replace the countertops to ensure our cabinets aren't further damaged. On September 14th, we spoke with Bottega's owner (***********************) about these issues. He was extremely unprofessional, told us he had much bigger clients and that if we weren't happy our only option was for them to rip out the countertops that day and refund our money. After speaking with *******, another Bottega employee (****) arrived at our house. He falsely assured us that we could adjust the cabinet doors to fit under the smaller countertops, thereby creating additional overhang. Our contractor later told us that these could not be adjusted. **** also told us that if we did not sign a sheet of paper accepting the countertops as is," they would immediately remove the countertops. We had several concerns with this. First, this would have damaged our new cabinets. Second, it would significantly delay our remodel. Third, Bottega was the only supplier in the area that had the specific slabs we were looking for. Last, we merely wanted what we paid over $18,000 for: two marble slabs fabricated and installed as Bottega agreed. For these reasons, we signed their required acceptance form. Over the following days, we unsuccessfully tried to adjust the cabinets to make them fit under the countertops per ***** promises, as well as resolve the issues with Bottega. On October 8th, we sent the attached email to Bottega. Bottega has not responded to this email, which isn't surprising given their prior behavior.
