Epcon Communities built our 10 year old townhome that we purchased new. It has a deck in the middle of the home kind of u-shape where the inside is a deck with a main beam from one side to the other side, where the beam is not properly supported, and is slipping down. A Professional Engineer came and agreed there were three deficiencies; the lack of proper beam support at one end, the span to the first post support exceeds the distance allowed for the type of beam and is stressed in two ways: the beam is made up of multiple wood 2x10's that are deteriorating with no flashing as described by a deck builder, protection from moisture penetration and showing the beam is coming apart and sagging. The ** wrote a report documenting the problems. And I have photos of the deck and the problem areas.

Epcon Communities appreciates the opportunity to learn more about this concern with the home deck. We are respectfully asking the homeowner to submit a copy of the engineer report to our warranty department at *******************************************************************

Im currently purchasing in ******** however they drew ** in by calling it *********. I have a very serious crack in my foundation from one side to the.other. Epcon said its acceptable however I enlisted a structural engineer who examined and has other thoughts. Watch their work.

I purchased a home in the Charlotte area. From the moment I met with the project manager, I had concerns. He was already arguing with me about what my contract stated. It was clear in black and white but he still wanted to argue. I expressed to my sales representative my discomfort. But that could not change anything.Once construction began, the trusses for my home sat out in the weather due to delays getting the foundation poured. This caused mold/mildew to form on the trusses. I hired a private inspector who pointed this out. I can only trust that the builder cleaned/bleached the trusses. The concrete work is flawed with pits, chipping, and imprints from debris. Everyone seems to close way sooner than they should. So many "punch list" items left to complete after closing. I had trades in my house for days after closing. Missing door stops, doors separating, wrong toilets installed, sloppy tile and grout work, missing dimmer light switches, wrong cabinet handles, missing laundry sink, loose plumbing, dented water heater, broken blinds, damaged exterior door, plumbing exposed in the foundation, missing front porch light. Some of which had to be addressed multiple times and some repairs refused all together.Epcon uses great materials but the workmanship has much to be desired. I was told that my experience with Warranty would be better than with the project manager. Not so much. They only seem to want to address items on the 45 day and 12 month periods. My question is, what happens in the problem worsens in between that time?Epcon has the potential to produce a great product. They just need to do a better job vetting trades and project management. My advice, stay on top of things, hire an inspector, and advocate for yourself. There will be troubles with any builder. They usually hire the lowest bidder.
