BEWARE OF FACILITY FEES FROM JOHNSTON HEALTH CLAYTON Johnston Health Clayton billed my health insurance $385 for outpatient facility usage fee for my wife's 1/12/24 visit to see an oncologist. My insurance allowed $297.99 but paid zero stating it was a deductible. It would not be deductible if wasn't a hidden "Gotcha Fee". Facility fees are prohibited in ********************************************* a not-for-profit hospital. In addition, the oncologist for her services was paid $67.38 and my wife paid a $35 copay. Not once was she given notice that there was a hospital facility fee by the oncologist's front office staff nor was this $297.99 facility fee disclosed anywhere on paperwork. It is disgusting to for my wife to have possible cancer and then get stiffed by an oncologist and Johnston Health Clayton at the most critical stage of her life. The oncologist and Johnston Health Clayton need to clearly advise/notify patients upfront that the two of them are in a contractual monetary relationship and that the oncologist occupies and serves patients out of a hospital outpatient facility. It is disgusting to know that our famility entrusted my wife's health to a doctor and hospital who clearly have a scheme to take money from potential cancer patients. This practice must end.My insurance company disallowed the initial $385 facility fee for a good reason.
