      Ace Roofing knocked on our door in Southern Pines after a hailstorm, violating the towns no-solicitation rules. They pressured us to sign a representation agreement, claiming their involvement was essential to file an insurance claim. They assured me Id only be charged if we didnt proceed with them and that theyd complete the work for whatever amount our insurance approved.When our insurance company provided an estimate, Ace Roofing stated it was insufficient and wanted to file for $5,000$8,000 more. When I expressed concern, they said, Why would you care if insurance covers it? This made me uneasy, so I sought a second opinion. A local roofer confirmed the insurance amount was fair, and I informed Ace Roofings owner that Id be using the local company. He assured me verbally that there would be no issue or penalties.After the local roofer completed the work, Ace Roofing:Attempted to fraudulently bill my insurance, claiming they had completed the job.Sent me an invoice for $2,571, citing the representation agreement, after their fraudulent claim was denied.I emailed Ace Roofing to dispute the invoice and reminded them of the owners verbal assurance, but they ignored me and sent the invoice and representation agreement via certified mail instead.Ace Roofing has engaged in unethical and fraudulent practices:Attempting to pressure insurance to pay above-market rates.Filing a fraudulent claim with my insurance for work they didnt perform.I request that Ace Roofing drop the charges of $2,571, cease all collection efforts, and be reported for these unethical and fraudulent practices.Thank you for your attention to this matter.
