We purchased our home new 8 years ago and we are the original homeowners. For the past 6 years, we have had constant septic and electrical issues. After many attempts at trying to figure out the issues, it all came down to shoddy workmanship as was stated by the many contractors who had to fix Cumberland Homes' errors. Because of that, the repairs have cost us over $10,000. ****** Builders/Cumberland Homes are by far the worst home builders I've ever seen.

It was only this weekend that it was brought to my attention that this negative review had been left on BBB's site.  There should never have been as much time lapsed between the original complaint and an official response from our company.  Cumberland Homes, Inc. is committed to customer service, providing well built quality homes, and outstanding warranty and follow up after our customers take possession.

*************** had made this same complaint on our ****** Business profile last October, although she did so anonymously on that site.  Fortunately we were notified of that complaint and provided the following rebuttal:

"Whoever you may be, I am truly sorry you feel this way. However, I cannot assist in correcting issues nor can I provide a public rebuttal if you fail to leave a name or address. With your home being 8 years old, its to the age now that the cost of home ownership is starting to increase. Life spans on most components in a home are limited. It is to be expected to start having to replace or fix items the older your home gets. This is why we stress preventative maintenance during our home orientations and companies such as American Home Shield sell extended warranties to cover unexpected cost. In a perfect world builders could provide lifetime warranties on homes. Unfortunately, that would not be realistic nor would it be a sustainable business model. Again, I'm sorry you feel this way and the best of luck with your home in the future."

I'd like to point out that we had not been contacted by *************** at any point around the time she left this negative review.  She also fails to disclose any specifics as what deficiencies or issues she had been having.  This puts us in an impossible position to defend the quality of our homes, our conduct and reputation, or why something may transpired in a certain way.  It is unfair to be able to provide a negative review without any substantive reason disclosed.
