Planning took over 14 months. Communications and visits were scheduled weeks apart. We were not notified for weeks when the first architect assigned to the project left the firm. A second architect took over, never visited in person (till today), and we were charged for her to get familiarized with the drawings done till that point, charges ($1,500) were then removed per our request. Despite the construction starting time being set up 4 months in advance, the drawings were not provided in time for the permit submission resulting in another month's delay. They were also incorrect and had a tool shack placed outside our property, that needed to be corrected. Inconsistencies, inaccuracies, and mistakes. Drawings lacked measurements, and those were not provided until the very end despite multiple email requests over the months. Note that they charge for communication with client. When we raised concerns to Mr. ********************** about the ability, accuracy, and attention to details of the architect following our project, and requested another architect to be assigned to the project (note: we are doing some structural changes), he walked away in the middle of the project without fulfilling the agreements after we paid near to $50,000, and sent us the final invoice with a still inaccurately drawn plan. Invoices are not itemized and do not list how the hourly charges are generated. When we requested the correct final plan, we had no answers. When we requested the itemized invoices we were threatened to have to respond to a collection agency for the last minor invoice. There are a lot of other architects in the area who may treat house remodeling as a priority and focus of the project.

Dear ***** and *****,We share your disappointment in where we have arrived. We pour our hearts into our work, not only into the designs but into the relationships we build with our clients, and I'll confess that we're on unfamiliar ground here. Of several hundred projects over the past fifteen years, all but a few have concluded successfully with mutual congratulations on a job well done.It is extremely rare that we reach a point where we feel impelled to part ways with a client, and we do not take it lightly. An enumeration of our grievances seems unlikely to be fruitful here, so instead I will just say that we still genuinely hope that your project will reach a successful conclusion. To that end, we would propose that if you can identify any actual errors in the drawings that we created, we will happily revise them at no cost. Please feel free to contact us offline at your convenience if you would like to discuss this further.Linton Architects
