11/26/22 I paid for an OEM catalytic converter to be put on my 2012 **** focus. What I received was not such. They put and cheap aftermarket catalytic converter. They welded a random piece of metal to make the exhaust connect and now my car sounds terrible. All of a sudden after bringing my car in to have this work completed I am getting terrible gas mileage. They also took my heat shield off and did not put it on because the new one didnt come with one. If it was an OEM catalytic converter. There wouldve been no reason not to put the old heat shield back on. I took a picture of the weld and the price breakdown. I paid $110 an hour Im labor and thats what I get? This is the only time my car has been dropped off at the shop and picked up in worse condition. It also says on the receipt that I declined an exhaust manifold gaskets at, but I would never ask. Talking about the parts the lady was going to get an OEM catalytic converter. I did not receive such.

11/17/22 Customer came in to shop stating he had broken a part while trying to replace it himself.  The tech inspected the car and ran check engine codes,  The codes were exhaust codes.  Upon further inspection tech's recommendation was to replace the valve cover and the catalytic  and manifold  assembly. The only source to replace the valve cover was the dealership. That was an oe replacement part. The catalytic manifold assembly was available through a local resource.  The local catalytic manifold assembly was part number  16647MGF,  an integrated cat, federal epa approved, with 5 yr warranty,   At no time did we indicate that an OEM converter would be used. Only that the valve cover would be/and had to be  a dealership item only.

The customer was contacted, recommendations presented, told of warranty and given an estimate.  The customer had to opportunity to come in and talk with tech and to be shown the reason for the recommendations and to talk with us regarding any concerns he may have had regarding the parts and labor cost. He agreed to the estimate price and said for shop to move forward with the repairs.  The shop completed the repairs. During the installation of the exhaust parts, it was found that the old manifold assembly ****** connecting to the intermediate pipe was rusted and needed to be cut removed. The new part had to be welded to the intermediate pipe.

Customer was contacted by the shop stating the car was ready for pick up. The car repairs were paid for by the customer.  The customer did call later to ask why the exhaust shield was removed.  He was told that the shield no longer fit after the new converter was installed.

The shop has tried to reach out to the customer to come back into the shop. He has not been to the shop to try to resolve the issue. We would also test the new converter when he comes into the shop.   To resolve the issue would,  on our part,  require a visit back to the shop for inspection and testing.

I am rejecting this response because:
I moved forward with the repairs under the e impression it would be an OEM CAT. The car is currently sitting at another shop, for the installation of the cat to be fixed. Im also not going to drive to your shop to be fed a line of BS. The lady that told me about the parts said an OEM cat. Not an OEM equivalent. No wonder the heat shield wouldnt go back on.
