This company charged us $7k for a new ************* told ** they used old spark plugs from our previous engine which is bad mechanic work as new(newer) engines should have new spark plugs. They gave ** a warranty for 12 months or 12k miles (whichever came first). 6 months later (to date) the car began jerking while driving really badly & we took it back & they said it needed new spark plugs and ********** needed to pay them $700 extra to have this done. We asked them why they used our older engine's spark plugs and they said because they were tested & worked before placing them in the newer engine. Unbeknownst to them, we had just purchased the spark plugs and coils prior to the engine failing - when we informed him of this, he was speechless. He then informed ** we had not exceeded the mileage & had not gone over the 12 months (this was on a ******* **** would cover the new spark plugs and coils that he was saying we needed to pay $700 for. On Wednesday, he calls to tell ** we went over ****** miles which would knock ** out of our warranty and although he put new spark plugs and coils in the engine, the car is still jerking therefore we need to buy an ENTIRELY new engine (another $7k). We put exactly ****** miles on the car which left ** with ***** remaining of the ****** warranty. He apparently changed the odometer reading to say we put ****** miles on the car in 6 months. We work only 35 miles away from the office and everything done in town is within a 3 mile radius. It is not humanly possible that we put ****** miles on the car in 6 months because we have not driven out of town or anywhere - we simply have been local. We have called the Aamco Headquarters, Customer Complaints and we are currently looking for the number to the owner of that specific Aamco (his name is *********************************).

I have enclosed a copy the invoice the customer was given when the repair was completed.  As indicated in the invoice the warranty was 12 months or ****** miles which ever occurred first.

The current mileage as currently indicated by the vehicle odometer puts the customer over the warranty period.  If the customer believes that there is some defect with her odometer.  I would suggest that she submits maintenance records to show mileage progression over the last six months to appeal to our vendor who denied the warranty claim due mileage.

To suggest that we simply want to charge again for the same repair is not accurate.  If the vehicle were still in the warranty period our vendor would have provided a replacement engine at no cost to ** or the customer and compensated ********************** for the cost of replacing the engine.  So to insinuate that we are just trying to charge for the same service is obviously not accurate.

As mentioned earlier.  If the customer has maintenance records which indicate that there is a mileage discrepancy.  We will gladly submit to our vendor for review.
