I had this company come replace my ridge vent on my roof. They were being very hard on my roof, it is a triple wide/mobile home. I went outside to tell them to take it easy on the roof because it made one of my light fixtures fall but they didnt take it easy. There are now cracks in my ceiling, 6 of them. They are not wanting to tell me their insurance information or handle this professionally.

This customer had a ridge vent installed on their mobile home that should not have been installed.  It has been leaking since the installation and I have no idea how long that has been.  They called us out to remove the ridge vent and cover the ridge with cap shingles, not to replace the ridge vent.  According to the customer these cracks happened after we removed the ridge vent and installed the new cap shingles, we have no idea if the cracks were already there or not.  The customer has refused to speak to us on the phone or let us come to the house to inspect the damage we supposedly caused.  On a mobile home, the roof decking and the ceiling drywall are attached to the opposite ends of the same piece of wood.  This means that when you remove and replace shingles on the roof deck you are also nailing into the same board that is attached to the interior ceiling.  Even if the ceiling did not have these cracks before we nailed into the roof and even if the roof had not been leaking for an extended period of time, this damage could have occured at no fault of ours due to the design of a mobile home.  As the homeowner will not let us look at the damage or speak to us, we cannot explain this to them.  We do not feel like any damage inside their home is our responsibility due to the water intrusion that had been occuring and the design of a mobile home.  We feel confident that we have stopped the roof from leaking and would like to be paid for our work.  A contract was signed by Mr. ******* and no down payment was given as Mr. ******* was not going to get paid until today November 21, 2024.  With the pleading of the homeowner and against our better judgement, we proceeded with the work without a downpayment.  Now we are not only being refused payment, but are being told that this supposed damage inside the home is our fault when it clearly is not.  We would like to be paid for our work and we would be happy to inspect the damage inside and have a reasonable conversation with the homeowner.
