On 24 October 2024 the plumbers repaired a broken pipe issue under the kitchen sink. A few weeks later my mother-in-law told me she felt cold air constantly coming through the vent under the sink. When she went under the house, she found that the flexible duct work exactly where the plumbers had worked was cleanly cut in half. I was able to repair the duct work, however, I have undergone two shoulder surgeries and one knee surgery, so crawling under the house was extremely painful and difficult and almost impossible for me to do. I contacted the plumbing company and reported what I found. One of the plumbers responded via text message and said he remembered seeing a "small tear" in the duct work but when I sent a picture of the damage, he denied any knowledge of the issue.

At the rental property of Mr. ****** *****. We were there to solve a leak issue that was coming from the water lines below the kitchen sink.

The leak had caused a good amount of water below the cabinets. In the toe space below kitchen cabinets was also a air vent coming up from crawl space.

We installed new pex piping and reconnected in crawl space below the home as well as new cut off below kitchen sink.

While down there we did see an air duct that had a little sag and a baseball size hole in it. Upon completion we turned the water on and tested everything to verify no more leaks.

Mentioned to Mr. ***** about checking down below because seems there might be other issues, and he acknowledged saying ok and thank you.

Upon leaving we put the cover back on the water meter in the front yard.

      Thanks,

I am rejecting this response because:
I was not informed of any additional damage underneath the house. In the owner's text message response (attached to this) he said that there was a "small tear" in the duct work. Now, in the owner's response to the BBB complaint, he said that there was a "baseball size hole". Neither was mentioned while he was onsite. The plumbing problem was repaired, however, I am extremely disappointed to have to find the damaged duct work on my own with no information provided by the plumber. I have seen damaged duct work before and never have I seen such a clean and perfect cut line. This definitely was not due to water damage.

Mr. Black I was the one on site with **** a retired army veteran that day. So I know exactly what the condition was on arrival, as was the same when we left. The break in the duct work was not right next to where the damage from the water leak was. We just noticed it while down there working. As mentioned before, it was a hole in bottom of duct. Thats why I mentioned about checking down below because of other issues. Did not want to say exactly what it was in front of your renter out of respect and kindness for you. Please let us know of any other assistance needed.

I am rejecting this response because:
These will be my last comments on the topic.  I am not sure why it matters that one of the gentlemen was a veteran. I also am a military veteran.  If the veteran status is to indicate a better attention to detail, then please stop calling the house a renter's house. My in-laws own and live in the house. The reason I was onsite was primarily to help communicate what the plumbing problem was and to let my in-laws know if any additional issues were discovered. If additional problems had been found, the "respectful" thing would have been to tell me point blank what was found. I am still curious as to why I was told in a text message that a small tear was found on the bottom of the duct work, while it was noted that a baseball sized hole was indicated when communicating to the BBB concerning the issue. As mentioned, I am a veteran myself and understand very well the ethics we were taught and expected to uphold, such as attention to detail, holding yourself to a higher standard than others, and clear and proper communication. I believe in integrity in all matters, regardless of the issue.

As we stated before we did let you know of that small break in the duct work after we completed our job. We did not make the hole, it was pre-existing. What we saw and the picture you sent us were two totally different things. We were not aware that this was not a rental, we were trying to keep it discret for your benefit.

I am rejecting this response because:
I was never told about any issues under the house concerning the duct work in person.  It wasn't until I called the office that the owner **** sent me a text message. When I responded to the text and sent a picture of what I found, that is when he mentioned seeing a tear in the duct work. Later his description of the damage was that of a baseball sized hole. Regardless, the duct work was a perfectly clean cut that could not have occurred on its own or due to any possible water damage.
