On May 20, 2024, we called Caldwell Plumbing to see if they could install a gas line and our new gas stove. They quoted us $130 an hour plus materials to do the job and a 4.75% to use a credit card. They arrived at my house at 12:45 with no materials except for 15 feet of copper. They sent me and my husband to Lowes to buy the fittings and more copper (50 ft). We spent at total of ****** at *****. When we got back, they forgot to put a shut off valve on the list so my husband went to the local hardware store where he spent another $10. They finished the job at 3:30. They broke my glow bar in my oven and failed to put in the orifices incorrectly. They took out of my home 35 feet of copper of which 20 feet belonged to us. We measured what was installed. When they presented us with a bill, they charged us for 5.5 hours of labor (they were only here for 3 hours). They added an additional charge of $96.27 for materials. We questioned the labor and they claimed that they charged for driving time. That is something they failed to reveal to us when they quoted us the labor. When I checked GPS it is only a 20 minute trip. They charged me a total of $909.58. I feel that I should have only been charged $390 for the labor. At the very most on travel time (even though they did not reveal it to us before we hired them) should be no more than $86 We asked for an itemized material list and they refused to give us one. Since we We also spent an hour running their errands for the parts that we bought, so they owe us an $130 in labor I feel as though I should have only had to pay $429 plus $ ***** fee for the use of my credit card. A total of $449.38 I want a refund in the amount of $460.20 + an additional $130 for our labor. We also discovered a gas leak outside where they did not check for leaks in addition to them damaging our oven and shoddy workmanship. We asked for an itemized list of materials they claimed to have used and they got very hostile.
