I purchased a car (2017 ***** Corvette) from Cosmo Motors of Hickory on or around 20 March 2025. Cosmo Motors to date have failed to pay off my vehicle that was traded in (2022 **** Mustang) and as a result I am being harassed by *************************. I have spoken to the general manager of Cosmo Motors several times with no resolution. ************************* has also spoken to the general manager of Cosmo Motors who assured them the payoff amount had been sent but now Cosmo Motors has not been returning their calls. To date this issue is unresolved and being reported on my credit as 60 days late. Because of this credit reporting my credit card through ***** Cub master card has had its credit limit drastically reduced to the balance owed and is now maxed out. I want Cosmo Motors to 1. Pay off the 2022 ************ in accordance with our deal and 2. fix the adverse credit reporting and 3rd to be financially responsible for the credit reporting results. If they are an A+ BBB rated company, then perhaps this also should be reviewed.Business Response

On 3/21/25, my wife and I drove from **********, AL to *******, ** to purchase a car from Cosmo Motors. We arrived, completed the purchase and traded in my wife's car. We financed the car using their recommended financing company. When we left they provided my wife with no documentation. It took a week to get a copy of the bill of sale. We were told that they would complete the registration in AL for us, and to expect the payoff to the lender of the car that we traded in to be completed in ***** business days. As of 4/25/25 none of this has happened. I've made many attempts to reach someone in their finance or accounting department but each time I call I get a recording telling me their mailbox is full. If I try to connect to the sales department I'm only told by the person that sold us the car that he's working to get us a resolution, or that his manager will call me, but that has yet to happen. I ended up connecting with their parts and service department, who only routed me back to the sales department. I was finally able to get a manager, and all he told me was that he would be looking into it and get back with me. Still no resolution. We are currently still paying monthly payments to a car we no longer possess. The financing company for the traded in car has not received any payments from the dealership. We are also being penalized by the state for not registering the new vehicle within the required 20 days. Also, the car that we traded in was immediately listed for sale on their site and it was quickly sold. I'm not sure how they sold it without getting the title from the financing company that possesses it. This is illegal activity.Business Response

On September 19, 2024, I went into Cosmo Motors **** located in *******, ** to complete the car purchase of a 2017 *** X6 after corresponding with a salesman via phone/text messages and informing me that I had been approved for the car all I needed was to come in put the down payment and sign the contract. The total down payment was $5500 I was told I needed to put $500 to hold the vehicle since it was an out-of-state purchase, and the rest would be collected upon completion of the deal. I paid the remaining balance after signing all the contracts for the vehicle. I was never given any paperwork on the car (bill of sales, proof of purchase or anything) this went on for 3 months back and forth with the dealership about the paperwork and proving ownership of the car. Finally, on December 16th the deal was finally finalized, and I received the paperwork I had been asking for months prior. However, the dealership did not send the title to the dmv nor put in to register for the car in my name and I'm being penalized for the delay of everything. My temporary tag that was given on September 19th, 2024, has expired on November 19th, 2024, so therefore I have been paying insurance, and the first car note on a vehicle I cannot drive. I have demanded the dealership to submit necessary documents to the *** so that I may receive the plates for my car, but they continued to be uncooperative. After finally sending the documents over I incurred penalties due to the delay of the dealership submitting the title to the tag office late in the amount of $254Business Response

The complainant contacted our dealership to purchase a *** X6 and submitted her information for financing. Based on the information she provided, our finance manager secured an approval. She then visited our dealership, signed all necessary documents confirming the accuracy of her submitted information, made her down payment via credit card, and took possession of the vehicle.
Upon submitting the paperwork to the bank, it was discovered that she had misrepresented her employment. As a result, the bank requested additional proof of employment. Despite this, we worked diligently with her for several weeks to provide the necessary documentation and facilitate the approval process. After several months, we successfully secured bank approval, and the funds were released to us for the vehicle.
Following this, we began processing her paperwork for DMV registration. As part of this process, we requested tax receipt documents required by the state where she initially indicated she would register the vehicle. After multiple attempts to obtain the necessary documents, she informed us that she now wanted to register the vehicle in a different state.
Throughout this process, we made every effort to assist her and ensure she could keep the vehicle. However, due to the falsification of documents and repeated delays in providing the required documentation, the registration process was significantly impacted. We submitted all collected funds to the state originally designated at the time of sale in accordance with standard procedures.
We take our commitment to ethical business practices and customer service seriously and worked in good faith to resolve this situation.

I am rejecting this response because:The statement provided by the business is inaccurate. After taking possession of the vehicle and the business accusing me of incorrect information, I've continue to prove by providing all necessary documentation to verify any information in question regarding my employment status or any other matter involving the information reported on the application to purchase the vehicle. The dealership was in fact ignoring attempts made to secure the funding for the vehicle which is why the process was dragged on for several weeks. During the process I informed the general manager that I was in the process of moving and because the sale took so long to finalize the move was complete before the sale of the car was finalized which is why I requested the original state of registration to be changed to another state. The dealership was incompetent the entire process and the only reason I successfully finally closed the deal was because I continued to file complaints with the proper people. I have receipts showing the negligence of the entire process. I just ask that the dealership reimburse me for the penalties paid due to the lack of urgency on their end and we can resolve this issue amicably.

Saturday 1/27/2024 I purchased a 2013 **** F150 from Cosmo Motors.I drove 3/4 of the way home and check engine light came on. I called the dealership Monday 1/30/24 to report the issue. Cosmo Motors dealership said they would come pick up the truck, take it back to the dealership and fix everything wrong with it, something that should have been done before putting it on the lot for sale. While waiting for pick up, I had my mechanic at ******************* in ***** ** hook the truck up to the computer to see what code it was showing. There were 9 codes showing! Along with the codes, the rearview mirror needed to be tightened, steering wheel needed adjusting, drivers door lock needed replaced, spare key needed to be produced. Besides the codes, the dealership was aware of the issues before we left from purchasing this truck. Cosmo motors picked up the truck 1/30/24. I was told all the items would be fixed and the truck returned to me once it was fixed. I called several times to get an update. Spoke with KJ the salesman we dealt with. He reported the truck was being worked on. This continued for several weeks. I asked many times when I called to speak to Mr. ********************** but was told that would not happen. Spoke with *********************, next in charge, many times and was told the truck was being worked on. We asked him to keep us updated on progress but that never happened. They never once called us the 5 weeks they had my truck. I called 2/29/24 and told them to return my truck that I purchased from them. It was returned 3/1/24 and is NOT fixed. The check engine light is still on and nothing else was fixed.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
The issue with this company is still unresolved from January. This business offered to buy the truck back from us. We returned the truck to the dealership with the idea all was finished with this transaction. They said they (cosmo) would send a check to the finance company to pay it off. This was 3/21/24. To this date the truck has not been paid off and today 4/17/24 my husband received notification from a collection agency. Also this truck is back on their website for sale. From the collection agencies point of view my husband still owns the truck. My husband does not understand how a dealership can sell a truck that is not theirs! Does not sound legal. Now my husband's credit has been altered. My husband and I both have reached out to the dealership. My husband was told the check was sent to the financial institution. I have called but was unable to speak with anyone with authority, either busy or out of the office.

Please see attached all corresponding documents regarding the original payoff sent to the bank, the return letter and the 2nd payoff check issued to the bank. We can not control that the bank rejected the payoff and did not give us a call explaining that the amount was not going to payoff the unit or the fact that they sent it back via USPS. Once payoffs leave our office it is out of our control and we are at the mercy of the bank. The new check should be the bank tomorrow morning. Thank you

I gave a $2k deposit on a 93 Supra under the impression it did not have any issues as I asked multiple times and was assured there was nothing wrong with it. When I got there I found missing trim and foam pieces from the trunk, lift gate supports that did not work, a block of wood that was glued inside the trunk area with great stuff expanding foam, a passenger door that was missing a door lock switch, and bubbles in the paint and overspray. When I told them that I wouldnt pay that much for it they tried to negotiate. Offered to find and mail the missing trim pieces but the foam would be hard to find but that he has a gun and could possibly rob someone for it. I told them I was mislead and wanted my $2k deposit back. They asked why and when I pointed out everything that was wrong and told them I got an overall bad feeling after seeing it and I didnt trust them or the car. They told me its an old car and said they didnt give out refunds to someone for bad vibes. Escalated from there and asked if thats really the business they run they responded yeah and was asked to leave. This was from a salesman AND the general manager. They scammed me out of $2k and I want my money backBusiness Response

***** theres absolutely nothing wrong with this car. No mechanical defects at all and the lock switch you said was missing wasnt clipped in. The trunk shocks were on order which we told you. As far as the interior trim pieces we would have never lifted the rear hatch carpet to inspect it for foam or trim. The wood was easily removed and left over from a previous aftermarket stereo. This is a **** Supra with over ******* miles. *** of the cheapest and still very clean hardtops for sale. It has no bubbles or overspray and thats a blatant lie. Before you left a deposit we answered every question you had, sent videos of the car and even sent videos of the undercarriage on the lift. You started cussing and getting aggressive over under carpet foam. I did everything I could to keep things professional and try to help you with your irrational concerns. Offered to locate interior pieces you cant even see if you dont take the rear apart. Good luck with your search for a Supra and wish you nothing but the best. Youre right about one thing its hard to be professional when youre getting cussed from the start but I did the best I could until I had to tell you to leave. The 17 year old kid that cleans after school didnt appreciate the spit on the windows though.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: there are things wrong with the car and your business practices. You scam people out of money by lying and securing a deposit and then telling people to leave your establishment when they call you out on it. The list of complaints against Cosmo motors is a mile long and I will complain to every agency and get the word out that you scam people out of money by hiding problems with the cars you sell. I asked for a refund because I caught you in your lies and then you asked me to leave. That would upset anyone
Besides that. How did this car even pass inspection? You knew about all these problems yet they werent disclosed until I did my OWN. How did my visual inspection discover more problems than your precessional inspection? You KNEW about the problems with this car yet let me pay you $2k knowing you wouldnt give it back once I got there and found that the car was junk. Dishonest and you know it

The car has no issues. Our 126 point inspection doesnt include lifting the trunk carpet to inspect a 30 year old car and make sure its not missing two small foam pieces. The car has zero mechanical issues and you were asked to leave because you were cussing and making threats. No problems were hidden. We even put this car on a lift and sent you videos of the undercarriage. I offered to order replacements for the two $40 foam pieces, the trunk shocks were already on order and the foam pieces under the carpet is just irrational on a car with over 200k miles and ******************************************** getting cold feet but Im not going to pay for it especially since you didnt ask for your deposit back you cussed me and threatened me with violence upon your initial ask.Initial Complaint

Rrached out to cosmo motors April 1st sales rep **** immediately responded with the application process and detsiled information with the purchasing process and any other questions I had a advised me a $2,000 deposit was required with submission of the application. Which I paid on april 6th, all things were going smoothly. **** made a ******* video since I was purchasing the vehicle sight unseen with detail which was greatly appreciated. April 18th 2023 I closed the deal on purchasing a 2019 audi rs3 from this cosmo motors. A down payment of $13,500 was paid prior to the vehicle arriving the April 23rd 2023. I used cosmo motors recommended shipping service which cost $650, which also was in a timely manner. Once the vehicle arrived around 8am the 23rd of April, I noticed several flaws that weren't disclosed for the seller. Slight dent above the drivers side door, trunk cover was loose. I drove the vehicle and noticed the vehicle would not went into limp mode, after further investigation I noticed the vacuum line was completely disconnected. The carbon intake was damaged and someone used ************* to repair it red flag! Windshield wiper blades and cabin air filter were in terrible condition. I've reached out to **** April 25th mentioning my concerns about the intake and check engine, he proceeded to state it could be anything and to reach out to the Manger Chance. The discussion with Chance downright Awful, not will to assist with the clear tapering of the intake and now the check engine light horrible customer service he simply said the vehicles sold as is. Today is the may 29th I paid $699.50 for documents fee, temp tags expired April 22nd. I have not received my registration or tags, reached out to **** no response which speaks volumes about this dealership and customer service. No registration or tags followed with a check engine light days after taking delivery of the vehicle. Prevents me from inspecting and enjoying the vehicle I have purchased.Business Response

****************,
We try to put our best foot forward and disclose anything that we see on the car especially for any out of state purchase. When you received the car you did have an issue with the aftermarket intake but you were the one that used ************* to correct the issue and we have that in text. This was a fully built and upgraded turbo RS3 in which you had every opportunity to check over in person before purchase. When you reached out to us about the check engine light you stated that you had no idea what the issue was and just wanted to make sure we would fix it. You insisted multiple times for a commitment in which we could not give. Used cars have over ******* working parts and with out knowing what had failed if anything we couldn't come to an agreement. If our shop missed something and it was truly sold with a mechanical issue I would love to see what we could do to help but you gave us no information and with no information we can do nothing. As for you tag situation, your local *** has had all the necessary documentation for well over a month. The *** has tried several times to reach out in an attempt to complete the registration process and you will not answer or call them back. Please reach out to us or your local *** so that you can get your tag and complete the process.
Thank you,
