    We hired Taylorsville Tree Care to take down one tree that had fallen on our house during Hurricane ******. When they took down the tree, they were already in our neighborhood working on other houses and it took them about an hour and a half to do all of their work. We did not receive an estimate before they did their work. We were shocked to receive a bill after the work was completed for over $15,000 for this one tree. They had charged us over three times the going rate for tree removal, and they charged us for 8 hours of work for each piece of equipment and for staff. We sent it to our insurance company, and they were unwilling to pay this amount. We called Taylorsville Tree Care many times to resolve this complaint letting them know that they had charged too much. During one of these conversations, they told my husband that they were charging two to three times their normal rate because of the hurricane. Our insurance has agreed to pay about $6,000 to Taylorsville Tree Care, which is way above what they normally pay, but Taylorsville Tree Care is unwilling to accept this amount. They want us to pay thousands more. The insurance company suggested that we contact the Better Business Bureau before paying this company.

    Good **************** I some how didnt see the letter sent to us until the second notice I received.  This is regarding a complaint filed against us by Ms. ******* *****. In response to her compliant I would like to say that a contract was signed before work was started that gave them an estimate before hand.  In the contract it states that all rates are an 8 hour minimum.  Also the insurance company uses a program called Exactamate to get their prices and on Exactamates own website it states that those prices are not to be used for Emergency rates. I would also like to give an example of a piece of equipment on our contract, the crane that we use is normally $3,500.00 per day for normal work and we charge $6,500.00 for emergencies so that is less than double, not the 3x that Ms ***** is stating in her complaint.  I have to say I was blindsided to receive this letter as I have never heard anything about this per any phone conversations we have had.  Furthermore the ***** were informed before the contract was signed that we would bill the insurance company directly and not charge them personally anything out of pocket, we would work with the insurance company to come to a fair and reasonable payment.
