Our family went to Dr. ********************** for ten years. We always noticed the staff turn around was high and Dr. ********************** himself was not personable. But location was convenient. Today, my two sons had an appointment for a cleaning, but both woke up with incredible mouth pain (they had had their new braces tightened with power chains added the day before, and incredible soreness had just kicked in). I called the office in the morning to explain, and asked if we could reschedule the cleaning due to their extreme pain. They told me that they would charge me $200 for cancelling ($100 per child). I asked for ***** in the matter, given that we have never cancelled before in 10yrs, and this was very unexpected for us. They said no, it would be $200 regardless. So I brought them for their cleaning, crying in pain. While there Dr. ********************** approached me in the waiting room. He rudely told me to follow him to his office. Once in his office he raised his voice at me, and said "I hear you have a problem with my policy?" I calmly explained that we had been customers for 10 yrs, and never cancelled. Given the situation was unexpected and they are in pain I felt it reasonable customer service to allow me to reschedule without $200 in fees. He got in my face in an unprofessional and intimidating way, told me he'd be out money if I was allowed to cancel and I don't repect his time. Unnerved, I told him calmly that we can bring our business elsewhere if he feels he should put "policy" before patient relationships. He said, "Fine! Go somewhere else, I don't need your business." He did that loudly in front of his staff and other patients. That's how much he appreciated the 10 years of business our family of 5 have given him. I was embarrassed and in shock that he would behave so unprofessionally. All of the staff within earshot, and the hygienists working with my sons, were very apologetic... but did not looked surprised. I've never been treated so badly in a professional place of business.
