This company aka ***** took over my neighborhood today. What a HORRIBLE experience. Works used my yard as their personal picnic ************ can & when I confronted them about it, they later pulled out a knife and carved into my palm tree. I then spoke with a supervisor told him, the worker lied to the Supervisor & said he tripped and his shovel hit my tree. I made them aware that cameras are on many of the houses around them, including *********** recorded. The story quickly changed! Moments later, the internet in the entire neighborhood was gone & the neighborhood was being flooded, due to a large hole in the ground. One neighbors yard was turned into a driveway because the road was inoperable. This is ridiculous!! Some neighbors have to use leave time for work because we couldn't finish our work day, without internet service. AT & T blamed ************* blamed everyone else. City of Columbia blamed ***** for the water main break & ****** blamed City of Columbia. However, ***** was the company digging and tearing up everything. The lack of concern they have for homeowners is completely unacceptable!! They are completely disrespectful to our property and u bothered by the damage they cause. At 7:30pm they are packing up & we are left with NO INTERNET & a boil water advisory. They have destroyed our neighborhood all day long & pack up like nothing has happened!

Thank you for bringing these concerns to our attention. We regret any inconvenience and distress caused by the recent construction activities in your neighborhood. Your feedback is invaluable as we strive to improve our services and community interactions. We are working with the City of Columbia to conduct a supplementary review aimed at improving the utility location information we receive. We are also using Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR) in future construction areas to reduce risk in the event of inaccurate mapping data. Lumos is committed to exceeding industry standards, and we follow strict protocols to minimize impacts on residents. We communicate regularly with local officials and utility owners throughout our construction process. Additionally, we will keep residents informed before, during, and after construction to ensure they can contact our teams with any concerns.

North State Communications, now going by the name of "Lumos," is responsible for destroying patches of yards throughout our community and refuses to take responsibility. They utilize a subcontractor named GAC Ltd of Greensboro, to dig and bury their new fiber optic lines underground. They removed sod (I have a freshly sodded yard) and threw it back when they were finished several days later. Of the three spots that they damaged, I was able to nurture back the grass in one area, but two other areas were left dead and bare. One of them was 2ft by 7ft long. I contacted the foreman of GAC, Axel, the day they finished, and pointed out the damage, and he promised it would be addressed. I contacted him a 2nd time a few days later and he stated he "had a right to work the land by law because there is an easement." He also said the North State "didn't pay him enough money to fix areas" that needed to re-sodded. I contacted the owner of GAC, Guillermo, who said he would take care of it. After two weeks nothing was done, so I contacted North State and spoke to Randy, who gave me an incident number and told me he would get things "right." He never called me back. Over the next 4 weeks I was promised by Guillermo 3X that the area would be patched, but no one showed up to do the work. I called Randy from North State again, who really couldn't have cared less, and once again he never followed up. I have several neighbors who have had the same issue, and neither North State nor GAC is willing to respond. It is true that they have a right to work to install and bury cables, but they don't have the right to destroy property. I have had to repair the areas myself. Fortunately, several neighbors recognized how unprofessional and irresponsible North State acted when handling these issues, and all have agreed that no matter the price of service, that they will not do business with North State. We cannot reward irresponsible business practices.
