I hired Seaters Fence based on some local recommendations, but my experience was far from positive. Communication was inconsistent throughout the project, and deadlines were repeatedly missed with little to no explanation. When the crew finally did show up, the workmanship was rushed and sloppy several fence panels were uneven, and some posts are already becoming loose just weeks after installation.Customer service after the job was completed has also been frustrating. Ive reached out multiple times about the issues, but getting a clear response or solution has been next to impossible. After 8 months they finally came to complete repairs. I expected at least decent quality and professionalism. Unfortunately, Seaters Fence delivered neither.I regret going with them and strongly suggest others look elsewhere for a reliable and professional fencing contractor.

We did in fact have communication issues on this project and have apologized for this to the client.

We actually changed personnel to correct this and unfortunately took way longer than we would hope for to fix. We did send someone out to address the clients issues and make the needed work.

We were deeply sorry for the delay and asked the client for a second chance should he need anything else done.

We always strive to do our best to make every job whole.

I had Seegars Fence of Durham install a gate for me in May 2022. The company has some questionable business practices and I ended up going to Small Claims Court with the owner, *************************, to get some compensation. In Court, I demonstrated that ****************** failed to dig a trench to bury a cable that he was required to do by contract, then falsely said rock prevented him from doing it. I also demonstrated that ****************** failed to send an invoice. I provided evidence in court showing that instead of admitting his error, he made up a false email/invoice and late letter and falsely claimed that he had contacted me repeatedly regarding payment. He also falsely claimed he had provided me COVID relief presumably to provide some kind of justification for why he could not supply any evidence of recurring bills. With respect to all the evidence, the Magistrate awarded me 10% off and the removal of $646 in interest/late fines that ****************** tried to apply though he had never invoiced me.In addition, Seegars finished the project three to four weeks late, were difficult to reach, didn't ************ updated on progress, and mixed up scheduling with contractors. ****************** selected a location for a solar panel where it would get no sun and so would not be operational (this was corrected later by a Seegars subcontractor) and Seegars workers could not provide basic instructions on gate operation.Based on the volume and gravity of misrepresentations put forth by *******, it appears that the deception is deliberate and the way he chooses to do business. I would not recommend this company to others.

I respond only because if i do not it would appear what she says is true. Everything i testified and submitted in court was the truth and we provided the records to back this up.We did encounter rock and before i could verify for myself she had already taken it upon herself to trench the driveway. We do have a rock clause in our contract and although she was not charged additional **************** was offered compensation prior to court and did not accept. As I explained in court we have no reason not to invoice or call about an open invoice. We use VOIP phones so they would not show up as a regular land line phone. We have been in business here for 23 going on 24 years and to have served our community well with our customer base. The covid statement was stated that we gave clients more time to pay their invoices because we knew times were tough. One year was plenty of time and she knew she owed the money and we simply wanted to resolve the matter. The solar panel is a new claim that i was not notified of until now and sounds as if it was resolved. The client received everything stated in the contract and did get a discount. There was no deception on our part and feel the only deception was a client who didn't want to pay a bill she clearly knew she owed.I wish her well and hope she can move on with a working gate and operator she's had use of since May of 2022.

The Court hears both sides of a case and makes an award to the aggrieved party, based on facts and as determined by evidence presented.
At a Small Claims Court Hearing between myself and ***** *******/Seegars Fence of Durham on April 19, 2023, I was awarded 10% off and the removal of all fines Mr. ******* tried to apply. The Magistrate reviewed evidence and determined that I was the aggrieved party and entitled to compensation. That’s why I got a reduction in monies owed and why Mr. ******* was denied the entirety of the $646 in fines he tried to apply against me.
The Magistrate made this ruling in recognition of evidence presented in Court showing falsified documents, false claims Mr. ******* made, and the fact that Mr. ******* refused to do work he was required to do by contract (digging a trench to bury a cable).
There is no question that Mr. *******’ deception is deliberate and the way he chooses to do business. Although deception was proven in Court, he did not accept responsibility, nor did he correct his behavior. Instead, he continues to make new false claims here.
Mr. *******’ claim that I dug the trench myself before he could get to it is pure fabrication. In Court, evidence showed that Mr. ******* refused to dig the trench and refused to do any further work on this project until I dug the trench on my own. Mr. ******* did not dispute this. Instead, Mr. ******* claimed rock prevented him from digging the trench. I proved that this was not true. Email records to this effect were presented in Court.
Mr. *******’ misrepresentation here about COVID relief is contradicted by his testimony in Court.
Mr. ******* initially offered me $144 in compensation. I didn’t think that was adequate for breaking our contract, conducting business in a dishonest manner, completing work late and numerous other failures. Neither did the Magistrate who awarded me a significantly higher amount.
Mr. *******’ says that he is unaware of any complaint about a solar panel. It is included in Court Documents he received on April 19 and reads Mr. ******* … “provided ineffective technical advice. The location he established for siting a solar panel would not have allowed the gate to operate during summer months as the panel would have been obscured by leaves during the summer.”
Mr. ******* claim that he has served his community well does not acknowledge the numerous complaints on ****** **** and **** against the business suggesting dishonesty. and poor service.
