Don Guldin, General Contractor, Retired Marine Officer and Ordained Minister, is a thief. We agreed on cost plus 10%, and he wrote the contract, then refused to give me documented costs of labor/supplies, etc., ) for determining his 10%. When I refused to pay the last $25K, until I got receipts, he filed a lien on my property and filed it in court. He requested a trial by jury. He had to provide receipts. They showed that he got $40 cash back forty times ($1,600) while purchasing supplies, charged to me as "materials"; and charged tools for himself to me, too: skill, jig and circular saws, 2 levels, Passlode cordless tools, flashlights, caulk gun, drill sets, grinder, trowel, nail gun kit, scrapers, 25' hose, step ladder, radial sander, Roto Zip with bits, first aid kit, ice chest, 2- 50' sets of string lights, screw gun and snacks ... and from ******* ********  he bought a pair of boots and a belt for himself charged as materials for $149.87! The jury ruled that I did not owe him $25K and the lien was removed. The "knock-down " treatment on interior walls was a "slop-job mess!" The handicap shower had no handrails or bench and the Shower head was so high I could not reach it to adjust it (I'm 5'4"). He hired Onslow Electric Service to rewire the house. they left it with no wire in a kitchen wall receptacle and the ceiling fans/lights in the living room and kitchen are improperly wired. They said they wired them the way the contractor told them to for use with remotes. If you plan to hire him, be aware that for me, he was too cheap to hire skilled workers and he obviously lacks morals. Perhaps I looked like an 80 plus year old easy scam! Donald Guldin should be stripped of his contractors license but the Licensing Board for General Contractors saw no cause for disciplinary action against him. What would one have to do to be charged in criminal court??? How would I rate Don Guldin? As a "1"; only because there is no "0" rating.

*** and his **** crew did some work on my home in 2014 after we found some shotty repairs done by the previous owner. He quoted me a great rate compared with the other contractors I spoke with.
The work was plagued with crew complaints about things being more costly or worse than anticipated. In the end *** told me how they replaced all the lumber under the house with pressure treated so we would never have an issue again. That unfortunately was not the case. Over the years since the work was done the floors have started settling toward the back of the house. Inspections under the house showed that the rear lateral band was either not replaced, or replaced with non-treated beams and have start to collapse from moisture. I have found many other issues over the years that should have been a clue. Electrical wires bundled and tossed in the attic without a junction box. Two way hallway light I was told couldn't be wired properly by his professional electrician that I ended up fixing myself. Insulation completely missing under the kitchen floor. Flooring in the living room cut improperly and not lining up on the ends. Duct work was damaged and no longer insulating which exacerbated the moisture problem under the house. Duct boots not sealed around the edges causing air from under the house to leak into the house creating a dank smell. I'm sure if I think about it I can remember more issues I had. Should have had a home inspector check the work, but I thought I could trust them given they knew my situation with the previous owner. *** has since stopped answering or returning my calls. I've left messages over the last year to no avail. If you want quality service that will be honored go elsewhere.
