    On April 15, 2025 I went to Ms. ********* business, Quick Refunds, Inc. to file my taxes. I felt confident that since she displays the BBB logo on her business door, then she would be reputable. i When my electronic payment had not gone through my account on April 30, I called her office and got a message that the ** was full. She had mentioned something about this part of the county being in a disaster zone due to earlier hurricane and payment had been pushed out until May 1. I thought that perhaps that is why the money had not been drafted yet. On May 2, the money had still not been drafted and I call the *** early morning and spoke with a gentleman who stated that no returns had been filed for me. I called Ms. ******** again on May 2, and sent an email. The email bounced back. I tried two different emails that bounced back. Thinking I had been scammed, I contacted ***. Later that morning, I went by her storefront and left a note in her door to contact me. I ended up having to go to another tax preparer to have my taxes filed. On Monday, May 5, at approx. 9 p. my brother called me to notify me that he had just driven by the storefront and someone was there. By the time I got to the location, no one was there. I am trying to retrieve the fee $124.50 (which cleared my bank on April 22) that I paid her for her services, that she failed to do. I have spoken with the court magistrate who feels I at least have a civil case, but I would prefer to settle this without involving the court system. I have also contacted the state of ********************* who referred me to the tax fraud form. The preparer that did file the returns double checked to make sure that these forms had not been filed. They had not, state nor federal.
