I came to an agreement that this company would perform electrical work for $6,000. We did not have a formal contract, however I paid $3,000 when electrical work started and an additional $2K when more work was completed.Unfortunately, I had to use another electrician to complete work in order to pass inspection and I personally paid for materials and did work needed to pass inspection for electrical. Additionally I personally fixed issues in the crawlspace that were neglected by this company, but needed to be done, in order to pass inspection.Beam ******** of *** Carolinas (***********************) is wanting me to pay the remainder balance of $1000 for work they did NOT do. Additionally, he is threatening me with a Mechanics lien to try to collect on work he did not do.Furthermore, I provided ***** with my cancelled check made out to him for $3,000 and the $2000 payment from *********************, to which he is not acknowledged as a total payment of $5000.

    Business Response

This "complaint" of his is totally unfounded. I have all text messages and amounts discussed and agreed on. I will respond after our court settlement. We pride ourselves on quality work but unfortunately I allowed him to do some of the work to help with his cost for the project. That is a mistake that will not happen in the future. All we heard for months was we need to get moved in next month for at least 6 months while the whole time his incompetence led to the extended time and many failures. He offered to have it done to speed up the completion time so he could get this done. AT NO time did we EVER discuss a deduct for something he wanted done faster. We were willing and able and would have completed all work as originally discussed. We were never given the opportunity to complete the work because of his rush rush rush on completion. He is probably going to wire his pool and garage off the original work we permitted without any inspections. He is that type to try and get by without proper inspections. The entire time we had to show him the proper way on the minor things he wanted to do on his own. We had to make him redo several things he was doing because we kept telling him that will not pass inspection and most importantly is not safe. We learned a valuable ****** and will not allow an homeowner "do it yourself" help or deducts for such in the future.

I am rejecting this response because:

Beam Services of the ********** was fired before completion of the job.  From his perspective, he feels that he can be paid for work that he did not actually do?  Because we had no formal contract, I am not obligated to pay for anything other than what work he actually completed.

The main reason I did some of the work myself is bc he was taking way too long to come back to fix the ************* to pass inspection.  Additionally, ***** approved me hiring another electrician to do tasks that were within the scope of work for electrical work completion.

***** put our job on the back burner, while prioritizing other jobs.  This **** our project out well longer than it needed to be.  He was arguing with county inspectors about things that are a requirement to pass code.  I was personally there to speak with inspectors who would tell me of the continued lack of acceptance of code or his unfamiliar knowledge of electrical codes.

His failure to make our project a prioty drug out projecf out months.  Bottom line, I have the right to fire any company that does work for me and am not responsible for compensating.  Additionally, he failed to mention we have NO FORMAL contract and unfortunately he left himself vulnerable in this situation.
