Day of install crew showed up with incorrect materials for the job (8ft vs 6ft fence) and no knowledge of the style of fence to be installed. Started working without speaking to me 1st even though 5 cars in the driveway. Already had holes dug for posts when I came out. Called owner ************************* to discuss the discrepancy on height and style. I said I would take the 6ft but pay the 6ft price. That's where things went south. He told me I signed a quote for the higher price and never gave him the green light for 8ft fence vs 6ft. He told me he'd send the quote, but I never got it. I was stuck making a decision on what to do while he already had $2400 of my money. I decided to just take it up the you know what and get a 6ft fence even though that isn't what we agreed on. I felt backed into a corner and he was adamant I agreed to $4800 for 6ft. He never said he would check his paperwork - just adamant! An hour or so after this convo I checked my Ring security cam footage, and it did capture our entire prior conversation about pricing and what I wanted and what I paid a deposit for. He wouldn't answer my calls, but he returned my text that I could pay $3900 vs $4800 for the 6ft. I said NO, $3800 is on the video. His men had half the fence frame built by this time, so I had no leverage to come back and say I wanted 8ft for the $4800 we agreed on. Too late. Spoke to him the next day and no accountability taken by the owner at all. Screamed and cussed at me when I tried to discuss. Denied ever telling me I signed a quote. Denied I ever approved an 8ft fence. Kept saying he lowered the price to the agreed price but as the contractor doesn't understand that means nothing to me when you lowered the price only because I have video evidence on what we agreed on. Without me having that video he was adamant I pay $4800 for 6ft. If I had not been home, I'd have gotten a 6ft dog ear fence instead of an 8ft cap and rail fence and I would have paid an extra $1000 for it.
