I rented an apartment. The original rent was 675$ monthly. I asked the owners sub contractor (employee of owner) if owner would be willing to rent monthly without signing a lease. They agreed for an extra 125$ monthly. I told sub contractor that I was waiting on a rent controlled apartment that i was told needed more cleaning. This is not the concern of this person but I wasn't sure if it would take a month or a week. I turned out another apartment became available that I had applied for and I had only stayed in Neuse Builders Apt for less than 3 weeks. I was grateful that this person was willing to work with me so that I wouldn't have to sign a lease. Unfortunately I paid for 3 months in advance (3200$) as a measure of good faith. A measure to reassure this person that I wasn't riff raff, drug dealer, prostitute, you name any other questionable character. I gave subcontractor my 30 days notice before I had been there 3 weeks. I said I was willing to pay for the following month but would like my deposit back and one months rent. To reiterate I paid 800$ deposit and 3 months @800$. There wasn't a lease because I didn't want a lease. It was a monthly agreement. I moved out in May and haven't received anything. I have gone by the business and spoken with the subcontractor and still havent received my refund. i have been more than fair. i want others to know this person /business are thieves.
