      Lumbee river electric has a issue with disconnecting power for no reasons giving leaving me in positions of having to air for my pets inside the home losing job time from work, due to not having power in my home for hours upon hours. I have been living here almost 4 years and my electric power is being disconnected the most and its always at 3am in the morning never being turned on until maybe 10am to 11 am. This is unexceptable when you have on-time paying customers. There should not be any excuses to why I have to sit without electric power for hours. I think its only fair that my power usage be cut in half since the company can't provide me 24/7 access to my power I stay out of power more then I have power so why do I get a electric bill every month sometimes taking from 300 to 174 I should not have any high bills of electricity at all I expect this company to provide better service then what there giving at the moment

      In June 2024 went down to Lumbee river to be proactive and get my electricity line buried because it ran through a neighbors (overgrown yard). On 09-06-24 lumbee river showed up dug up my yard, buried my line and in the process cut my water line left me with no water! Came out on Saturday ( very nice workers) however they were only able to get water in bathtub and toilets no water in sinks. Went to lumbee river on 09-10-2024 told by said employee they are not plumbers according to a Mr ******* I called a plumber which cost me so far $177.00 to get toilet back working they wanted another $900.00 for the sinks and tubs. THEY GET AWAY WE TREATING PEOPLE LIKE NOTHING. ITS 09-19-2024 still dont have a working sink I bet Mr. ****** doesdisgusted voter

      Recently, I filled out the information to transfer service into my name for a rental house which already had Lumbee River service connected at the residence. When I spoke to the representative over the phone this morning at 7:26am, she mentioned that Lumbee River ran my credit score and will be adding on an additional fee of $350 plus another $100 to begin service.In the online application form, it clearly states the following: "All applications for service are subject to approval and/or credit check."Let me be clear, this is not written consent to pull any credit information whatsoever. Although they have the right to pull credit information, it must be consented to in writing in accordance with legal credit guidelines. My duke energy account history is up to date and paid in full and everything has been paid for the past 3 years, but I believe this is also a form of price gouging given the fact that I cannot simply choose my electric provider based on the house that I have chosen. Hence, there is only 1 monopolized provider. I asked them to put me in contact with their legal department and they failed to respond to my email communication. They also mentioned that they tried to call me 1 time to give me this information without any email/voicemail or written communication.

      I am rejecting this response because: ***** called to tell me the BBB responses will only go to her and they will not change the resolution of this complaint. She called to harass me and intimidate me saying that the BBB will not have any legal jurisdiction and this is not how business should be done especially when energy is monopolized based on geographic location. I will state again that I do not believe that the credit inquiry is done appropriately, and making the customer pay a fee for having a lower credit score makes no sense. There is no more risk to the business when they can just shut off electricity. The prepaid program that Lumbee River EMC has is a complete scam as it was charging up to $15 a day in energy cost without showing any of my energy usage. Therefore I had to pay the $380 fee to switch to the conventional method of billing and I am writing this message in an effort to get the fee reimbursed/refunded to me. I am also writing this to expose this unfair business practice as I know I am not the only one that this is happening to.

      My bill is always at least $200 per month. I can not afford it so I started turning the breakers off just to make sure nothing was running. I'm still being charged between $200-250/month. This is a literal scam. They're claiming I spend on average $8/day for electricity while I'm away at work all day AND with my breakers turned off. How is this not illegal?
