Contracts over People I moved to ******* at Southpoint in April while my house was being built. I informed the leasing agent (******) that my house would be finished in July, but I didn't have the closing date at the time. She suggested corporate housing (more expensive but all furniture and appliances are included). I had looked at numerous modern apartments, but I chose Berkely because ****** stated that the apartment is month-to-month, and if I needed to leave at the end of July, I would not be charged in August, even though my lease ends the second week in August. She sold me on that; as a result, I moved in. They held a large check for over 4 days- unacceptable. Then, I started to see large bugs. When I inquired about bugs before moving in, ****** told me there was not a bug problem on the first floor, but ***** (manager) stated on the first floor the bugs come through the pipes and outside. Received closing date, and I did everything that ****** told me-- let them know 30 days prior to moving. I had paid in full until July, and I reached out to the manager. It went downhill from there from the large bugs in the apartment and garage to them not honoring me leaving early without penalty. The apartment is corporate housing (month-to-month), and all they had to do was an addendum to end it in July, but *********************, Regional Manager, refused to adjust it even after I explained everything. She became irritated when I gave her a default bill from her apartment from 2022-- being held accountable.. . She was very dismissive; I had to reschedule a meeting with her 3 times through *****, and she tried to leave before the meeting was over. This was an easy fix, but she refused. Contracts over people. I would never recommend anyone to lease here with all the other apartments in ******. The only consistent thing is maintenance. They are quick to fill a work order.

The management was the worst I've ever encountered, clearly prioritizing money over everything else. Their behavior took a nosedive after I signed the lease.I had a clogged toilet and asked them to fix it. To my shock, they placed the toilet directly on top of the bathroom tub, violating basic hygiene standards. It only takes a few minutes to fix a toilet properly, but they didn't bother to do it right. On top of that, they never informed me about this strange arrangement. Despite reaching out through phone and email, I got no response, leaving me without a working bathroom for around 24 hours. To add to the frustration, they left my bathroom filled with dirt after the repair. I provided photographic evidence and a plumber's report to highlight their negligence, but they completely ignored my concerns. To make matters worse, they wrongly charged me for damages I had nothing to do with and kept overcharging me despite my complaints. When I tried to break the lease early, they attempted to slap me with a lease break fee for three months instead of the standard two months. And to top it off, they didn't even return my security deposit.Living in that apartment was an absolute nightmare, and I am incredibly relieved to finally be free from their clutches.
