    My husband and I were customers of Clear Defense Pest Control for approximately 7-8 years. We purchased both general pest control services as well as termite prevention services, and we were loyal customers even when we moved to a new home. Their termite control services included a damage protection guarantee asserting that they would cover the cost of repairing termite damage arising during our contract.In September 2023, we were having some flooring replaced in our downstairs bathroom. In the course of removing the hardwood floors, extensive termite activity was discovered in the floor and walls of this room. The total cost of repairing the damage to the bathroom walls and floor was $7,203.69. Clear Defense refused to pay for any of the damage to our bathroom, as they asserted we had created a termite-conducive environment by having an undetected water leak in a drain pipe in the wall.However, several years prior to the discovery of the drain pipe damage in the wall and the termite infestation, we had contacted Clear Defense to investigate signs of termite activity in the wall of this bathroom. We had detected soft spots in the wall that Clear Defense has acknowledged are characteristic of termite activity. At the time that we noticed these spots in the wall, we contacted Clear Defense and a technician come out and investigate. We were assured the soft spots and holes in the walls were not due to termite or pest activity. If Clear Defense had diagnosed the termite activity at this time, we would have been able to substantially mitigate the damage to our home and the cost of the repairs.We would like Clear Defense to pay for the repairs that were necessary due to their negligence in diagnosing the problem when signs presented. The contractor portion of the work that was necessary due to the termite damage was $4,536.88. The remaining portion of the work was related to replacing the flooring in the bathroom and is our responsibility.
